Got a message today from a buyer saying I sent the wrong sports card....and sent pictures of a different version of the card I sent. Do people really try to scam over a $4.25 card....My card sent, and $1.00....card he says I sent instead. I've got 100% seller rating. Is there a spot to send Buyer info to ebay to see if this guy/girl does this often? If they are scamming over $4.00, what stops them from scamming for higher priced items

^^^ Not a darn thing.
Approve the Return if you don't want to refund until you have the card back. If the card the buyer is showing you has resell-ability... know that that may be what comes back, but then you can list it. But... at least you won't have to refund until you get something back .
Trust me, you don't want to involve eBay over a $5.25 sale. Good luck.

I received an "alternate" return for a $5 Hot Wheels. Seems ridiculous for low-cost items, but they do it.

yep even cheap items this is done one.
Now you need to think is the cost to return to you worth it:
If you truly think it is a scam: is it worth losing some money to see what gets sent back??
In other word what is the cheapest way to deal with this?

I kinda feeling like I do want to get eBay involved with this $5.25 sale.......principle of things.
Us sellers should have some kind a rights. I reported the buyer and just got the refund request in my inbox. I might actually just take the negative feedback on this one......and not go down without a fight.
So wrong and this person is scamming over $4.00!
Wow!

I was just saying this the other day low spenders high maintenance, seems odd to have to worry about a 2$-50$ order as if they are in the 2k-5k area..

🙂 I know what is going to be sent back if I accept the return. There has to be a spot to report buyers, this can't be the first time this buyer has tried this.....maybe a return request paper trail of past requests?
I told him I have notified and reported the buyer....they are demanding where they can see all the information I sent ebay so far.
Wow, I hope Karma really gets this person good

When this happens to me, as it does infrequently. I have learned vent (scream and cuss to myself).
Most important, do a time and expense analysis. Is the time I spend dealing with the item going to cut into my posting, packing, procuring and general selling preventing me from PROFIT (principle be dammed, block the buyer). Is the cost of the return more than the item's worth? In your instance I bet that the similar card they sent a photo of is the card are going to get back not your original.
Blocking the buyer and reporting the buyer is eBays way of policing buyers mostly it works even though it can be slow.

when you get an item back you did not send:
report the buyer for return abuse....
do not expect such to do you any good (it wont):
but such strikes end up with the user losing the right to file for returns under the MBG.

Tick this link for more information than you'll need to report a buyer. >> Report an issue with a buyer | eBay
You won't get a report of any information... eBay doesn't share it. Not with you or your buyer.
Too bad you showed your cards (no pun intended) to your buyer. It's not necessary to message the buyer your intentions... but you do need to stay on the claim in case your buyer opens a Return.

The buyer just wants it free. They do not for a second think you are going to waste time/money/effort to get the card sent back, they think it will be an automatic refund because of the low value.
Check the buyer FB left for others and see if they are in the habit of getting sellers to refund.
As much as it may p*** you off, send the return label and if you get a different card back refund and then appeal with eBay and report buyer for abuse of the MBG.

Call ebay and ask to speak to the fraud and security department. You can discuss your concerns wjth these people. They can look into buyer acct history and problems.

I sell cards full time, all of my scam customers and other problem customers are the ones buying cheap cards. I think they don't want to risk the money scamming higher dollar stuff and just try to get free cards.
I repeat, it is ALWAYS the cheap cards. Every condition complaint I have ever had, every return request, every claim not to have received the card when tracking shows delivered and every card related negative feedback and every card related item not as described has been on a card that cost less than $5.
Those problems have become consistently less or less as I block each and every low dollar card buyer who tries it or does anything else weird at all.
You might want to see if any other sports sellers will swap blocked lists with you. I don't do many sports cards so my list would not be helpful if you are selling sports.

Great suggestion.....thank you so much! I'll look into blocked card buyers.

100% ratings from others, unless they didn't fix their feedback left too early. I am guilty of leaving feedback for a buyer too soon, might start waiting till transaction is further down the line.
