@teawithtoni
Since you both buy and sell on this ID, it is not clear if you want to cancel an order as a seller or as a buyer.
The following is a place to start:

If buyer, you need to request seller, mind you, doesn’t mean he will obey. If seller, you need to go to item, select cancel order and select reason, out of stock, problem with address, buyer requested etc.

I finally got it done after much frustration. It used to be so simple.

Not sure what difficulty or 'frustration' you encounter, but it is super simple. You go to the Order page in Seller Hub, click on the 3 dots next to the action button & scroll down to Cancel Order. That's all there is to it. I think it pops up with several reasons you have to choose from as to why you are canceling. I think there's only 2 reasons, but I haven't had to cancel one in ages.

Just to clarify, there are currently 3 options:
Out Of Stock or Damaged (that’s one reason in the list, not two)
Buyer Requested To Cancel
Problem With Buyer’s Address
The first one with earn the seller a defect, the others will not, but of course it’s very much not recommended to lie and pick one of the latter, especially because eBay seems to have been cracking down on abuse of cancellations by sellers.

@jonathanbrightlight Thank you, I misremembered & you are correct.

Have you tried looking at the policy page?
https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/member-behavior-policies/order-cancellation-policy?id=5298
It is a very easy process. Why did you have a need to cancel a transaction?

Customer requested.

What was the cause of the frustration?
What made it so much harder to do than in the past?
I find it to be an incredibly straightforward and obvious process.

That is great and will not cause you an issue IF when you filed the cancellation you selected the reason as the buyer requested it. Those do not count against the seller.
