I had an item for sale which the buyer purchased and paid immediately. They put an invalid shipping address down, which ebay rejected when I tried to ship the item. I've tried several times to contact the buyer, but have not heard anything. I started the cancellation process on Nov 30. The case is still open, waiting for buyer response.
How long do I have to wait until the cancellation is complete and the buyer is refunded? I would really like to relist this item ASAP as time is running out for Christmas.

I would refund the buyer then call ebay customer service and explain not being able to contact the buyer to get correct shipping address, as the reason for canceling the sale. By doing that you shouldn't get a defect, and your final value fees get credited. If you call as close to 5:00am Pacific time as you can, you'll have a better chance of reaching a U.S. based rep.

Most of the time if an address gets flagged when I'm printing a label it is merely a formatting issue. The address is too long and needs abbreviated or they use an incorrect abbreviation. I usually fix those and move on with no problems. I don't change important things, though.
Did your cancellation refund the buyer automatically?

Why are you waiting in the first place?

Couldn't you cancel using Problem with Buyer's address?

The cancellation process should have automatically refunded your buyer. Did you check your paypal account to see if it went through? Usually I receive an email from ebay within minutes informing me the cancellation is complete.
I'm not sure what you mean by a cancellation ticket.

Cancel and refund. Once you change the buyer's address on your own, you are not protected by Paypal or Ebay.
If any changes are needed, the sale has to be canceled and then changes to the address have to be done, and then you list the item again so they can buy it. I do that, but I create a special listing stating "item such and such for buyer I want my thingy".
