Cancellation problem

20 days ago i sold a £200 item. The buy sent a payment but was pending on Paypal. This has happened before so i assumed this would go through in 3 days. After 5 days the payment was cancelled. after contacting the buyer with an update i contacted eBay who told me they had no record of any payment attempt. I then contacted PayPal who told me they attempted to buy with an eCheck, but then cancelled the payment (reflected on my paypal transactions).

 

I contacted the buy who said they didn't know what they were doing as they never use ebay or paypal.

I send a cancellation request and told the buyer to confirm it when they got the money they sent back (they told me the money had cleared their bank, and this reflects as an attempted payment on my account). I asked them to confirm the cancellation when got the money, but after that all contact ended. 

 

I contacted Ebay who said to wait 10 day and it would be auto cancelled (now today), but under resolutions it's been asking me to refund them, despite never actually receiving any money. I'm now concerned I will be forced out of £200.

 

Will this cancellation end as normal or will more time be wasted?

Since you are a UK seller, you might want to check the UK discussion boards to make sure procedures for ebay.co.uk are the same as they are for ebay.com (mainly North America). There are nuances in UK/EU regulations, as well as in the banking system, that can render our answers inaccurate. Even some of the eBay policies are different.
