Sold an item for $50. Due to a discrepancy in the description, I issued a $10 refund to the buyer through paypal as a good faith measure. Item arrived damaged. I would like to cancel the order and give a refund for the remaining amount.
However, I fear that if I cancel it, ebay will automatically refund the full purchase amount, not taking into account the $10 I already refunded. Is this the case?

If you refunded the $10 from that transaction in Paypal and then cancel the order through ebay, they won't be refunded more than they paid. In other words...as long as any previous refund was done through the actual PP transaction, ebay will know the total the buyer is owed.
