Cancel payment? Cancel order?

Hello!

Last night I listed and sold an item, while preparing to ship it today, I noticed that the payment was still pending. It stated payment initiated, and payment sent Jul 8 via PayPal, but still pending and nothing received.  I discovered ebay used my old PayPal account when I listed the item(my fault for assuming it would use my new linked PP) To clarify, this is a COMPLETELY NEW PP ACCOUNT,  NOT JUST A CHANGED EMAIL.

Since I can't change the email it's sent to, and paypal CANNOT link an entirely different deleted account with a different email, what are my options?

I have contacted the buyer to cancel the payment, and tried to cancel the order but ebay will not allow me to do that, stating to "wait a few minutes " (what do they mean by this?)

Maybe I haven't googled around enough, but I'm at a loss of what to do. I don't want to relist the item until this is resolved.

You should be able to go into your new PP account.  Update the set up to ADD this old email address.  You can have secondary email addresses on your PP account.  That should take care of the issue.

And yes you are correct.  Changing your Site Preferences to a new PP account will NOT change ANY existing listings or those you may relist or sell similar.  It will only affect those that are created from scratch.

@ketchus.yl9bm

Try adding the old email address to your new Pay Pal account.

Have a great day.

I doubt that will work if the old email is already associated with another Pay Pal account.

Others have done it and it works, but I have to admit not recently, so maybe something changed if your experience was different.
