I haven't sold on eBay in a very long time and a lot has changed so seeking help here with this one. I had a buyer who made an offer and I accepted. The buyer paid with PayPal shortly after I accepted. The buyer almost immediately requested a cancel which seemed strange to me. I agreed to cancel and selected the automatic relist option. I have been waiting 2 days and the cancel still shows as pending and PayPal has given the money back to the buyer. How long does it take for the cancel to complete in this scenario so my listing will go live again? This seems like it should be pretty quick. Is the buyer supposed to do something to get this moving (of course they have not responded to me when I reached out to them)? Do I need to do something (doesn't appear like there is anything I can do). Thanks for any insight.

Did you receive confirmation of the cancellation request?

I got an email that said the following with a button to see cancellation details when the buyer requested the cancellation. Nothing since.
"The buyer requested to cancel this order
Please see the cancel details and respond to the buyer by Aug 17, 2020.
If you've already shipped the order, you don't need to cancel it. Just let us know.
Otherwise, please approve this cancel request and refund the buyer. We'll credit the variable portion of the final value fees to you. You can apply it toward listing more items to sell on eBay."
Since I already processed the cancellation if you view the details it currently says "This order was canceled
You initiated a refund of $.. on August 14, 2020. Once it's complete we'll relist your item(s) and send you an email."
I have not received any email since which is why I'm asking here. Just seems like I should have received an email by now and my item relisted.
Thanks

I had 3 cancels this week. All are refunded via pp but they are still saying pending in ebay. They used to clear within an hour at most. Now they are just sitting there

"I agreed to cancel and selected the automatic relist option."
The automatic relist is the default so you may have deselected it. Mine have always relisted in a minute or two.

Thanks. Maybe its just eBay system being slow for whatever reason.

I should have said "opted for" rather than "selected". The cancellation is pending and the message on the details page clearly says "Once it's complete we'll relist your item(s) and send you an email."

I had a cancel yesterday and today - which seems super odd tome seeing I usually get one about once a year- but both mine are hanging there pending also. It says the money has been refunded - which I can see it has - but it's not clear in my cases area. Something seems fishy to me with the cancellations and the prolonged pending status.

Same exact thing here. A buyer purchased an item from me that I had listed as "local pickup only." After he bought it, I contacted him to make sure he lived near me, and to arrange a pickup. He said he lived seven hours away, and wanted to cancel. I canceled it right away, and he was refunded. This all happened same day. That was three days ago, and it still shows as "pending" and my item has not been re-listed yet, and I have not received any email. I am kind of surprised it's taking so long!

EBay may be awaiting confirmation of being refunded before removing the " pending"

I had eBay call me to find out whats going on. They told me it is because the buyer paid with a credit card and it takes 5 days to process. I don't know anything about credit card processing but it sounds like a long time to me but whatever. I talked to them last night and they told me to wait 24-48 more hours and it should be resolved. Lesson here is to not opt for relist automatically. I'll just relist it myself.
