I recently had a buyer win an auction then accidentally hit the cancel button. We have been corresponding over message, and they said they the still want the item. I asked them if there is an option to cancel the request and if they can get back to me about it before proceeding with any further action. Now, though, they have checked out and paid for the item, but the cancellation request is still open. What should I do in this case? Should I cancel the sale on my end over the request? Or should I not cancel and ship? I'm so confused how to proceed from here and am not sure if following her wishes will result in a defect or not.

Tell the buyer to go back to the resolution center where he cancelled the item, and have him close it.

I thought when the buyer sent a cancellation request it had the option for the seller to deny.

Yes, there is an option to deny! But I wasn't sure if that would result in any issues or not with Ebay - defects and what not.

Your buyer has paid now and clearly stated he wants the item. Decline the cancellation request and ship the item as usual.
