I always do my research when I sell something. I searched Terapeak for Singer Buttonholer 160506, got this result, and was pretty excited.
Sales this year, and I was able to click on the 1st one. And this is it.

Have I been wasting my time bothering with research since we can't verify any high sales after 30 days? I'm wondering if this auction had a BIN of $565. Makes me really question the other Singer attachments I looked up that supposedly sold for $1500.00. Is this a new glitch or is this the way Terapeak has always worked?

The listing you linked to with the URL you posted, was an auction listing with a starting price of $120 and Best Offer available on it.
Rather than bidding on it, the buyer made a best offer instead, for $565. The seller accepted the best offer (possibly it was accepted automatically), and the buyer paid for it. That is why Terapeak is showing the higher price.
The price shown in Terapeak is correct, and it's the purchase price and the shipping that was paid by the buyer. (Although in this specific case, I suspect that the transaction was not completed, see below.)
The price shown in the eBay listing is not correct, because eBay doesn't show Best Offer prices in the search results, or the bid history or purchase history either. They do show that the listing sold to a Best Offer, just not the amount it sold for:
However, I noticed that the seller has zero feedback, and their profile shows zero sales. So there is a good possibility that the buyer may have been trying to scam the inexperienced seller, or the seller may have not completed the transaction for some reason. So it's possible that the transaction may not have been completed, even though it was paid for.
You can view completed listings for up to 90 days after they ended, not just 30 days. Of the 4 listings in your screenshot, two of them are more than 90 days old (Dec 2022 and Apr 2023), which is why you can't access them.
I was able to track down the 3rd listing in your list (from the thumbnail picture and title), which supposedly sold on July 7 for $200. It should be clickable but it is not. That appears to be because the listing was removed from eBay, which is most likely because the buyer was determined to be fraudulent, so eBay canceled the transaction after it was paid and removed the listing. The seller relisted it on July 10, as a fixed price listing instead of an auction, with a BIN price of $30 without best offer.
From that, I have to conclude that scammers are targeting these items, hoping to take advantage of sellers who are hoping that their buttonholer attachments are worth a small fortune.
If you look at most of the other sold listings on Terapeak, they have sold for about $25 to $30 or less. It appears that most of the apparent high-priced sales were to fraudulent buyers, who may have been paying with stolen credit cards and possibly asking the seller to include a gift card worth several hundred dollars as well.

I see these things all the time around here. Not rare or uncommon. I never pick them up because eBay's sold listing show they aren't worth much anything at all. Not sure what terapeak is looking at but the average sold listing is around $15-$20 and there are a ton of them listed for less than that.

Now I wonder about this one....

and this one.

Just a guess: Looks like that data is including the actual machines, not just the accessories. If so, it is not accurate to say the least, but unless they provide a view of what is included in the "average" it is useless.

My example didn't use averages. It used one specific item. Terapeak reported it sold for $565, yet when I clicked on the link, that item sold with one bid for $120.

Now that people are back to work after covid....and not staying home...prices for these things will drop very low. I actually baked during covid....not any more.

Sorry, I must have misinterpreted the column in your screen shot that said "avg sold price". Nevermind.

The avg sold price column x number sold column = item sales column for that listing only. It doesn't add different listings together.
If someone has sold 10 of an item from the same listing, 5 at $100, 5 at $1000, avg price sold column would be $550, number sold would be 10, item sales would be $5500.00
When 1 listing has 1 item, and it sells, the avg sold pr should equal the sold price on the listing.

Oh, heck ya, I agree. when I do research, I look at the date to see if it was covid money. This was a recent sale. I was able to click on the listing. Terapeak reported that item selling for $565. Clicking on the listing shows that it sold for $120. Still overpriced, but the 2 figures should match.
Terapeak is relied on to be a useful selling tool, and should be accurate.
I thought in this case Terapeak may have been reporting a BIN price on an auction. It's still extremely inaccurate, though.

FYI, not sure how it deals with BO, but I just checked on one that I sent a Seller Initiated Offer on & TP has the correct price. Which is interesting b/c if you look at my SOLD's, you don't see the correct price.

WHO would buy a Singer buttonhole attachment when you can buy a very good used machine of almost any brand for less than that and most will come with a built-in automatic buttonhole maker?

I just know the eBay suggested selling prices that often pop when creating or editing a listing are often way off base. I will go in to lower a price on a listing because it hasn’t sold and eBay will suggest a price for double or triple the price.
