I've sold a few items on ebay so far. Suddenly, I'm no longer able to set a duration for the listing when I create a Fixed-Price (Buy It Now) listing. Nowhere does it give the option to do a ten-day listing; it makes it 29-day without asking me. I try to choose "Auction," enter ten-day, then switch to Fixed Price, but it doesn't work. eBay makes them be 29-day auctions, and I hate that. Thanks to any help folks can provide.

There's no such thing as a 29 day duration for either auction or fixed price.

But when a 30-day listing starts, it immediately shows 29 days and x hours left.

Oh geez. Okay, a 30-day listing then. The point of my question is why can't I choose a duration as I used to be able to.

Thanks for the suggestion, loveyourimagination. I did try going back in after Preview, but it didn't let me. Oh well.

@docsi5, I'm having the exact same issue. I can assure you, it's really frustrating! Not only do I no longer have the option to select a duration for the Buy It Now listing, I also cannot choose between a 30 day listing and a "Good 'til Canceled" one. As I don't have a seller account, but sometimes come close to the monthly limit of 30 free listings, I prefer to manually relist items that don't sell, which is no longer an option since the listings have been defaulting to "Good 'til Canceled" ones. I would be very grateful if someone could provide some insight. I'm including a screenshot of what I see when I create or edit a listing.

You may have been switched to the New Quick Listing tool.
You can switch to the advanced tool by clicking on 'save and exit’ at the bottom of the quick listing tool and then you will see 'advanced form' on the top right of the new page.
From the advanced tool you can adjust duration, best offer, and plenty of other options not available with the new quick tool.

I wish I knew this back in Feb - I had to end the listing and "delete" it and relist w/7 day like I wanted to. I was so nervous that it would sell when I did not have access to the internet thanks to my mean cat LOL! She hid my mifi device, that fluffy mean heffa 😉

This is a very recent change. I don't think the new quick tool was available in February (unless you were in some sort of test). Your ability to relist at that time with shorter duration tells me you were likely not using the new version of the quick tool back then.

AFAIK there has always been a quick listing tool. It's hideous, BTW

Yes, there has. And with the old quick tool you could set the duration of a fixed price listing.
With the new tool you cannot. It defaults to GTC, it defaults to best offer, and it defaults other settings you cannot adjust.
There are differences between the old quick tool and the new quick tool.
It's part of the reason there was so much "excitement" around the Summer Seller Update.

I haven't seen the new QL. I tried the old one a couple of times, got the heck out of there. I much prefer the advanced. I've noticed more than a few posts about not being able to get rid of best offer, I guess this is why.

Put on your running shoes, and put miles between yourself, and the "New Quick Listing" tool.
That is the one that is going to result in
Per the UA
"we may relist your unsold items for another 30 days"
May probably means, we are allowed to, and we will.
