Can’t send refund to buyer

The buyer returned today so I was about to send their funds back but I can’t because I haven’t even received them yet there on hold until nov 16 so eBay is asking me to pay £295? The buyer paid £335 + £3.30 postage and eBay took £43.30 fee credit from this order so £295 which I haven’t received yet so I can’t refund buyer but they want me to add a payment method to pay that amount now

Can’t send refund to buyer

You sold an item.

Because you are a  new seller, there is a Hold on your customer payments.

The customer has returned the item.

You are unable to refund them because of the Hold.

Well, no.

One reason for the Hold is for situations just like this.

Did the buyer open a Claim (usually Not As Described, but possibly Buyer Remorse)?

That would make it easier since eBay would have all the information available.

However.

Since you are dealing with eBay UK, it would be best to post your question to the UK Boards.

While generally the rules are consistent, there are national differences since there are different national laws.

which I haven’t received yet so I can’t refund buyer but they want me to add a payment method to pay that amount now

Sounds like you started selling without setting up a way to get paid.

In North America that is Managed Payments.

I had to provide my passport and banking info, DD used his driving license and banking info. We're in Canada.

Americans have to provide banking info and their SSN.

What were you asked for in the UK?

Can’t send refund to buyer

That's how it works here on dot com

In situations like yours sellers have to provide a method of payment, and then when the initial buyer payment processes/is released they deposit that in your account.

I did refunds earlier this month. Funds were on hold so they went to my checking account to refund the money.

That's how it works @limitlessgadegts:

1. You'll add a payment method and refund the buyer.

2. After that, eBay will release the hold on your funds from the buyer.

Can’t send refund to buyer

I'm unsure of the rules on the UK site, but here on Ebay this would be correct.  We would need to make the refund to the buyer withing the time limit Ebay sets up for sellers on disputes.  In the US that is 3 days after receiving the item.

Then after making the refund to the buyer, we would contact Ebay and get them to take the hold off the funds as they can see that the buyer was refunded.

So I would suggest refunding and then contacting Ebay to get your funds released.

I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.

Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service.  Please be aware that for social media CS, you send them a Private Message and briefly explain what your problem or issue is.  Feel free to leave your Name, address, phone number and/or your email address in this message.  It is private and secure and it may help to speed up the response for you.

https://www.facebook.com/eBay/

https://www.instagram.com/ebayforsellers/

Your options will be on the left.  If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options.  Not all options are available 24/7.  It will depend on staffing available.  So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't.  Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me.  If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.

If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.

If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.
