I can't reply to answers on selling my boat or shipped vs actually shipped:
I already new about the ebay policy on selling boats etc... You really did not answer my question if there was a way to sell my boat without charging me an insertion fee every time the add runs out till it sells. I was asking if there was a way around this so I only get charged when it sells/if it sells. Like I said, these are hard times and I don't know how long it will take and charging insertion fees every 7 -30 days would be to much and I will not list it under those terms.
You kinda answered the question on shipped vs. out the door shipped where something is listed as shipped yet may take days if not weeks before it actually leave the sellers building. I wanted to make a point that Ebay should change this and only list as SHIPPED when the item has actually BEEN SHIPPED (out the door, carrier picked up).

NO
they will charge u each time you list an item for sale and u might decide a sale boat taking a different route
Only way list free if they r running a promo in motors catagory
Good news it is the beginning of summer here is a few suggestions u may find helpful
1/ your local newspaper classified ad?
2/ craigslist
3/ local shopper paper ad
4/ local internet community announcement /4 sale ad
If u still want 2 list on eBay try 30 day listing duration
Advice listing 4 as long as u can 30 days
Good luck

Just did, posted on ebay motors. Not sure I will get the answer I need or any acceptable answer for that matter. Ebay has a policy and that's that. Its great for selling a lot of things because you only pay when it sells but for other things, well, I think I will find another way to sell.

I posted my boat on craigslist yesterday and already have 4 potential buyers. One is coming with a cashiers check, if I get the check the boat is his. So far it cost me nothing but if craigslist wants a cut after I sell it, I am more than fine with that. This ebay motors fee structure and a rude answer I got from a member may make me start to like craigslist and just maybe good bye to ebay after all these years. I go to ebay for everything I buy so it will be hard to stop that but maybe I will, never know.

Some things sell better on different sites. When I was selling my old Honda Dream I thought of listing it here, then decided selling locally was just easier. Same with that Ford Maverick. I buy and sell regularly here still, though.

Tell that buyer to go back to their bank, cash that check and bring you cash. Cashiers checks can be faked.

I don't know what to tell you, it has a lot to do with how much time you have, time is worth money too...
About 2 years ago I listed my vehicle on ebay motors, auction starting $1 no reserve.
The winning bid was for about $1000 below private value fair/good kelly blue book which already was not real high to begin with so I was not too happy until someone pointed out to me that it did sell in 7 days... I did think about that and had to admit there is something... In the past I've put a price on a vehicle trying to get a fair sale price then it took so long to find a buyer their blue book value literally went down as I waited!
So then I had to drop the asking price, and still had to wait...
6 months, a year...
How much longer do you want to keep this vehicle?
Their condition never improves while waiting.
Not telling you what to do but sometimes...
It is worth paying $200 fee plus $100 value on a winning $1500 bid for a $2000 boat, take home a paltry $1200 but you are RID of it and it is GONE, or do you want to spend how many months hoping to get more for it which you might never get?
Just some things to consider.
You want to sell that boat now, then put it up for auction starting $1 No Reserve and be willing to sell it to the winning bidder. Granted you might get one bid that way but if the boat has any value then you should be able to do better than that. If such is not the case then CL / FB might be a better bet.

Better be very careful, cashier's checks are not safe as they used to be.
IMO you really only have two options with a cashier's check:
1. Go to the ISSUER's bank and cash it, there may be a fee involved.
- There is a good chance the issuer's bank will be nowhere close to you.
2. Go to your bank, cash it and WAIT two weeks!
- It takes that long to be sure the check is good.
Cashier's checks can be forged, some are very hard to tell from a good one.
If you get a bad cashier's check your bank will cash it, then when they find out it's bad they will be after you for the money plus a bounced check fee and in a really bad scenario they can even call the law on you.
Or it is also possible the clerk at the bank notices when you try to cash it, that can be good or bad, depends what they think your intentions are because they can also call the law if they think you're trying to pass a forged check (even if you do not know it is forged).
Thing is, the buyer COULD bring cash...
Chances are if you inform the buyer that you will have to cash the check and then wait two weeks OR they can bring you cash OR they can go cash the check and bring you cash, chances are that will be the last you heard form that buyer.
And yes some ppl will say but who wants to wait two weeks?
Legitimate buyers would wait, or bring cash.
That's who.

That's the thing about cashier's checks - you have to go to the bank to get one, and you have to have the money in your bank account (or the cash) to pay for it.
If you don't have the cash on hand, make a cash withdrawal from your account. If you already have the cash...why go get a cashier's check?
