Can't block 0 feedback bidders, but ebay offers no protection

No big secret, eBay doesn't allow you to block 0 feedback bidders.  This is a BIG point of contention with me, because I've been BURNED several times.... and it's always been on large items like CARS.

I know, I know.. "Well if we block 0 feedback bidders, no one will ever be able to buy anything".  I get that.  I've given up trying.  That isn't my question.

My question.... is WHY DOESNT EBAY DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, OR EVEN CARE WHEN IT HAPPENS?

Yea, they get an "unpaid strike".  Whoopity doo... that falls off after like 60 days, and there is absolutely no other repercussions.  In fact, as a seller, I can't even leave negative feedback for them.  Ebay lets them just "keep on keeping on" being irresponsible, not holding them accountable for their irresponsible actions, and then after a "barely a wrist-smack" unpaid bidder strike... they are allowed to do it again, and there's not even any history that it ever happened in the first place.

This isn't a "rare" occurence as ebay would like you to believe.  It's happened to me at least 5 times.... with cars & motorcycles... never "small" things.... always large things.

Back when I joined ebay... sellers could leave negative feedback, and writing "disclaimers" in your auctions telling 0 feedback bidders not to bother.... both were allowed, and both helped protect the integrity of the entire ebay experience.  Now... both have been taken away.

Now.... it's just a "free for all" with zero accountability.  Ebay is innundated with phony accounts, phony bidders, phony (mostly chinese) sellers, thousands of counterfeit items..... and no one cares.... certainly not eBay.

Been a seller for 15 years.... and I'm so frustrated at the literal "anarchy" this site has become.... particularly considering how good it once was.

We understand what your saying 100%.  There is no excuse for not backing your sellers none what so ever.  We have been burned to and its very frustrating.  Just a few simple fixes and sellers would feel so much better about selling here.  But every month changes are made to make it more simple for a buyer to scam us.  This does not make sence.  All we can guess is that it dont matter how good a seller you are.  It dont matter how good you are to customers.  it dont matter how long you have been here.  All that matters is there money.  Best regards

Just so you know it takes that strike a whole year to fall off. If they get more than two in a year there is a specific block you can set for that. And unpaid item strikes do get buyers booted.

I know this because when my son moved out he decided to buy a whole bunch of stuff on eBay that he couldn't pay for and he got like five unpaid item strikes in a month and his account got banned

Actually, if I recall correctly, Motors bids aren't binding.

I don't know if you realize this, but any user no matter what their feedback is free to walk away from a car purchase.

There is no such thing as a non Paying strike for anyone in eBay motors. Too many variables with a used car.

Who would buy a car sight unseen? I can't tell you how many cars looked awesome in an ad and then when I went to see it the car was garbage.....

Sales of titled property - vehicles and real estate - are non-binding on Ebay.  Either party can walk away at anytime.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

You ask:  " WHY DOESNT EBAY DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, OR EVEN CARE WHEN IT HAPPENS?"

___________________________

Why doesn't eBay do anything about it?  I believe you assume as so many do that eBay even knows about "it". They don't. eBay isn't connected to or involved in this forum. There are moderators but they are not necessarily advisers to eBay's policy making people.

The community forum exists as a place to ask questions, seek opinion and assistance, share experiences and rant or vent.

As evidence suggesting this, look at how often the same basic subjects and problems are repeated almost weekly.  And yet the repetition continues.  Are solutions created that might curtail some of the repeated complains?   I'd like to think there solutions to some problems.

One might wonder how frequently both buyers and sellers are allegedly defrauded considering the millions (?) of transactions that occur daily.  We hear about those provided here by forum members. Another question might be; How many eBay members are not forum members or even know of the forums existence?
