Can't add additional USPS insurance on the new mailing system

The option to add additional USPS insurance over the included free $100 is gone. The only option is shipcover. I had someone call ebay customer service the agent wanted to argue saying this is a USPS policy and stated that any ebay upgrades are checked for months before going live AND DON'T HAVE ERRORS. Why oh why does Ebay insist on fixing things that don't need fixing but not fixing things that do.

I literally just had the same issue per se. I added the insurance needed...my total before hitting "purchase label" actually showed the newly reflected price to the right....in other words...upped my total reflecting the "added insurance" total.  I noticed there was no button at the bottom where they usually ask you to "check this box" to complete the added insurance...that "old" button you could check to complete the insurance added process actually would add "hazardous materials in this package" to your label instead! Glitch.  Now.....I pur hase the label....with the price reflecting the added insurance.  Go to print the label? Has no info on the slip that appears at the bottom of tnn e printable label showing I had added insurance...my total label cost showing at tbat slip at the bottom had now printed the cheaper price without insirance.....in other words there was nothing showing on my printable label.or record of the label that appears at the bottom of your printed label sheet showing I added insurance. However...when I checked my PayPal account in which my label costs are wi th drawn from...it charged me for insurance.  So...I went to the post office...had them scan that label... and in their system it shows it was completely insured in their system as I had paid for. But there is nothing on your label record showing this ....so I hope if there was to be a needed claim...USPS could see on their end that it was insured...because you have no proof on paper on your own end to prove it at this point...which of course in a claim..you have to provide. Hopefully this will soon be addressed.

Shipcover has a lot of exclusions, items that their insurance does not cover that the USPS insurance does

If you are having a problem with this Stamps.com offers a free Ebay account for all Sellers if you contact them.  I have been using this free shipping account for over 3 years now and love it, plus you have the option of having Stamps.com insure the item or USPS with not problems doing so.  The application reads all the items you have for shipment on Ebay and after you print your shipping labels Ebay is automatically updated to reflect the tracking information just like Ebay does.  You can also print labels though out the day or weekend and then print a scan sheet when you are ready and it will have the ability to include all the items you have ready for shipment that day.

They do not take the shipping money directly from Paypal like Ebay does, but you can use your Paypal Debit card to purchase your postage and have that taken from your Paypal account plus earn the 1% bonus cash that Paypal offers for using your Debit/Credit card.  Just throwing this out there for those that are getting tired of all the constant changes to Ebays shipping program.  Also since this is all they do, they tend to do a better job of it, at least IMHO.
