On another ID...I sold and shipped a $46 item from ND to TX via Priority Mail on 3/14. The tracking stopped updating on 3/17 after 3 fake In Transit scans (package was scanned in as Accepted at my local PO thankfully). I filed an online Missing Mail case through the USPS website on 3/25 and it didn't help. The listing was a TRS+ listing with supposedly up to $100 in insurance (I made sure to actually go through the process of adding $46 worrth of insurance which showed up as free on one of the line items while printing the label through Ebay Labels). I believe this package to be lost or delivered but failed to scan as such (I haven't heard a peep from the buyer and I don't really feel like poking that sleeping bear). I have never had to file a USPS online or otherwise insurance claim and I am wondering if anybody can let me know what to expect as far as what kind of documentation I need to provide while making the claim. Neither my USPS receipt (obtained from my post office when I handed them the package to be scanned in as Accepted) or the Ebay Label receipt that printed out with my label have any mention of insurance being added to the package (although I was sure to add it when creating the label). Sorry about the wall of text and I appreciate any help as to what to expect and what I need while making the online claim.

You will need to create a USPS account if you don't already have one. Then, when you enter the tracking number, the system should see the insured amount.
As far as "poking the sleeping bear" goes, it doesn't seem right to file the insurance claim if you have not confirmed that the buyer does not have the package.

It's also possible the buyer received the package but tracking was not updated, particularly since it's been two weeks since shipped. I wouldn't contact the buyer nor would I file an insurance claim just yet.

I had a couple this past year that never showed as delivered in USPS tracking or ebay tracking.
Never ever heard a word from the buyers. I assume the buyers received their items. I would not take action unless the buyer makes contact through messages or opens a case with eBay

First, I am an honest person, at least I try to be. What I really want is the insurance claim to light a fire under the USPS to actually do an investigation and update the tracking to delivered somehow - that is what I want. Filing the missing mail case did nothing so far, I wish it had. The USPS failed to do their job by not updating the tracking if it was indeed delivered. I will put off submitting the claim until closer to the 60 day mark but I will file it before 60 days is up since it cannot be filed after 60 days. Buyer has 180 days to file INR with Paypal and I refuse to be left hanging if buyer files INR sometime after 60 days (maybe it has been delivered but sometime in the future they notice that the tracking hasn't been updated and they go for a freebie). Bottom line is the USPS failed to do their job by not updating tracking or by loosing the package...and they need to make it right somehow, that is how I see it. I don't want anything that is not mine but I also don't want to be left on the hook either - its kinda a tough call for me. I just wish all people would be honest, but I am willing to bet (from past experience) that if the buyer notices that the tracking hasn't been updated they will say that they haven't received it even if they have, kind of a crime of opportunity of sorts. So maybe the package is lost and the buyer hasn't contacted me for some reason or the package was delivered but the postal person failed to do their job and update tracking. I have no idea but what I do know is that I am not going to contact the buyer and open up a can of worms I would rather leave sealed at this time.

Sounds like a good plan. Would like to hear how it works out.

Filing a claim isn't going to do anything as far as finding your package.
The probably reason it hasn't been found is that it's either completely lost or more likely it already been delivered.
If you have heard nothing from your buyer it likely means it's been delivered and there is no need for you to do anything.
Over the years I've had dozens of packages delivered without a scan and not once did a buyer ever file a not received claim. You state you are honest, I believe you, don't you think your buyers are also honest?
