Can I please get some help here?

Is there any way to remove the "People who shopped for this item also looked at" section on my summary?

I bought some men's socks.  Now there are pictures of items I don't want to see, and that I would never shop for, on my page.  It's nasty.

I don't know why eBay can't just happily take my money and leave me alone.  Do I have to agree to being potentially offended in order to shop here?  Is there any way to remove this stuff?

Thanks for any help you can offer.  I'm disgusted.

***  I posted this on another board, which apparently goes nowhere and nobody reads it, following eBay prompts.  They gave me a congratulatory 1st Post Badge.  I don't even know what that is - I'd just like a respectful answer, if anyone could, please.

I am sorry but all of that is dictated by ebay and out of a buyer's control.

And yes some of those items may have very little to do with what you purchased.

As a poster this happens to me as well.  To help out someone I will do a search for a particular item.  Then ebay will bombard me for days with similar items to it.

Re: Can I please get some help here?

Virtually all the retail online websites at which I shop do the same thing. It's the cyber version of having all the magazines and candy and gum and breath mints, et al, at the check out counter of the grocery store.

As soon as you shop for something else, those items you don't want to see and would never shop for will drop off.

Re: Can I please get some help here?

But it wasn't even similar!  The only "men's" thing I searched or bought was diabetic socks.

Now, I have a picture plastered on my summary that is out of line.  It's an up-close pic (supposedly a men's graphic tee) of a woman's rear end, in a thong, bending over, with a man's hand grabbing her.

C'mon.  Who decides this stuff, and can I get this removed?

Re: Can I please get some help here?

Ebay saw men's and showed you something else for men.  And in your case it was distasteful.

Do not stress over it.  It will soon drop off your my ebay page and eventually will be removed all together from ebay.

I'm no shrinking violet, and I'm not in distress - I just want it off my screen.  How long will I have to wait?  Do I have to make another purchase for them to quit bombarding me with soft-core porn pics?

Honestly, I do not deal with this at other online venues.  This is absurd.

Re: Can I please get some help here?

Like another poster suggested, do some searches for other items such as jewelry.

It will then start showing you other jewelry items.  You may not be looking for jewelry, but at least the photos will not be offensive.

I understand what you are going through.  It happens to me on aol all the time.  Not sure what I was looking at but now I get continuous emails asking if I want a Russian mail order bride, a prostitute or male enhancement drugs.

It sounds like exactly the opposite of what you said to me. You bought some men's stuff and others that bought the same thing as you, some of them, also purchased one or another of the things they showed you. It's no big deal as you will never see it again until you purchase more men's undergarment items.

Re: Can I please get some help here?

I looked at chesterfields on Wayfair and now I get one or two emails a day from them advertising the chesterfields I decided were not suitable.  I bought locally.

Since I hang around these Boards a lot, I look at a lot of listings that are of no interest to me, because the poster needed advice on similar items.
And, yeah, it can get nasty.

Thank you for confirming my experience, rather than trying to justify or excuse it.

Things like these are the perfect example of a corporation that has gotten so large the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

Re: Can I please get some help here?

Not only is your reply unhelpful, but it is combative and dismissive.  Furthermore, I didn't purchase mens' undergarments.

I hardly think that most of the people buying diabetic socks also want to buy tank-tops with images you can't wear in public.

Re: Can I please get some help here?

My guess is some "did" also buy what you saw other than those socks. You can think it was not helpful if you choose as I was telling you facts and the reality of it all. My apologies for not answering your question. NO, you cannot remove those ads.

Re: Can I please get some help here?

Ok, thanks - it doesn't appear I can remove them, not by any means of my own for now.  But I still don't believe people are buying this porno shirt in the kind of quantities that they are buying common socks.  No way.  Maybe eBay profits from clicks on images, I dunno.  That would explain things, but would also be quite nefarious.  🙂
