The US Post Office seems unhappy about shipping matches in First Class Mail, which goes airmail. They say unstruck matches should go by ground only, which means Parcel Post---more expensive.
I'm looking at listings of matchbooks for sale, with unstruck matches, and many of them say they ship by First Class Mail.
Who has tried this, and how did it go?

You should do what makes USPS happy - for very good reasons.
If your matchbook collection brings a plane down so you can save $2, way bad karma on you.

Saftey matches can only go by ground.
Strike anywhere matches (the kind you take camping, and light on your zipper) "friction matches" can't be shipped at all.

I see the majority of sellers on E-Bay are shipping matches illegally, that is by first class mail. This is extremely unfair competition to those of us who abide by the law.

There's a LOT of stuff offered on ebay with illegal shipping but ebay is not the ones that will be fined by DOT so they don't care.
A search for firework "labels" (uh huh.... wink, wink) will find just about every one being shipped Priority Mail.
