I sold 6 cinema tickets. I messaged the pdfs to the buyer. Only 2 of the 6 worked. Can I issue a partial refund on the tickets or do I have to refund the whole amount. Thanks
If I can how do I do it.

Indeed you can, simply go to (Orders) top left area in your Seller Hub, locate item, click the drop down and select (Refund Buyer) pick reason and put in the amount you wish to refund.

The problem is that they opened a case. So don't think I can do it.

eBay allows partial refunds if buyer and seller are in agreement as to the amount.
If the buyer wants to keep the two tickets that work … just refund the amount of the other four. The fact that a case is opened shouldn’t matter.

The buyer has used the 2 tickets. Should I ask them if they will accept the partial refund. I can't see option to do the partial refund as the case is locked. My options are just refund or send buyer a message

If there’s a dispute or claim against the order, you won’t get the option to issue any refund until it’s settled. (My understanding is that you have to call eBay to help with this.) It can be done though..

The bigger question is why did only 2 out of 6 work? If it was a mistake on your part you should just refund the whole amount.

Totally agree.. Good practice especially for something like this.. It sounds like a Real Inconvenience for the buyer.

Thanks for the clarification.
If 6 people appeared at an event with tickets … and only 2 people could use their tickets … then the extreme inconvenience might warrant a FULL refund.
But if the buyer knew 4 tickets were invalid BEFORE trying to use them … then they may be willing to accept a partial refund.
[I’m not sure how you would issue the partial refund if the option isn’t showing. Sorry.]

For the amount of money involved, I'd refund the full amount. (In USD, it's <$25.)
I don't understand how just 2 would work and 4 wouldn't work. How sure are you that the buyer isn't just looking for a cheaper night out and 6 people would go out for the price of 2?
