Can I cancel an offer to a watcher?

I listed an item I'd prefer to keep. Each time I get a new watcher I send them an offer, as per Ebay's suggestion. I have one offer out there right now and it ends tomorrow. Can I cancel the offer or am I obliged to sell the item?

Thanks.

Can I cancel an offer to a watcher?

If you sent out the offer, but the buyer has not accepted it/paid for the item, then there is no transaction. You can end the listing and the offer will be voided along with the ending of the listing. The buyer also won't be able to leave any negative reviews. You can block the buyer at anytime which will prohibit them to buy from you with the username you blocked.

However, if the buyer has already accepted the offer and paid for the item, then they are able to leave negative reviews. At this stage you can still cancel the transaction and refund the buyer using one of the reasons eBay provides in its dropbox (e.g. item damaged, lost etc.).

I don't think you can. I have a few of those outstanding, and I don't see a way to rescind the offer. Maybe the buyers who received it won't take you up on it.

That said...have you tried actually ending the listing?

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

You can end the listing now and not wait for the buyer to respond to your offer.

And consequences from e bay for doing this? I just got a nasty message from a watcher and I want to block him but I already sent him an offer.

No, there are no fees or other penalties form eBay for ending a fixed price listing early.

I suppose there's no polite way to tell your watcher, "Sorry: you snooze, you lose" so it's probably best to not reply at all.  Considering their temperament, it might be a good idea to block them.
