Calculated USPS Priority Mail is actually Priority Mail Express Suddenly?

$40+ to ship a 10 ounce item?It should be $9?What is going on? I knew that the price was wrong the moment I saw it, can we just not get 3 day priority shipping now?

This isn't about Express; the closeness in price is just a coincidence. This is about the dreaded "dimensional weight" which USPS charges for packages that are over 1 cubic foot (1728 cubic inches).

Your package at 9 x 15 x 18 inches has a volume of 2430 cubic inches. Its dimensional weight is 15 pounds.  And $41.20 is the cost to ship 15 pounds via regular Priority Mail (not Express) to Zone 6.

I actually did that and it said that  priority express would be $104. There is literally no way that standard priority should be $40 on a 10 ounce item

I actually hadn't adjusted the dimensions because I've never seen them impact package price drastically before thank you for this! I learned something today!
