Listed 2 items last night for 10 days, 1 shows up in search 1 doesn't. Both show in "active" and counting down.
CS said it "should" show up tonight and items over $500 take 24-36 hours,,,,,
I want a 10 day auction to be 10 days!

All my listings become searchable in about 15 minutes.
I realize that the search time can vary and MAY take up to 24 hours.
We are both "lucky" according to mam? Or this is just the way things work?...
Only on ebay. In real life i'm losing my hair.

But you live in HAWAII... many would consider that lucky 😉
The inevitable sunburn you will now get on your head, not so much 🤣

Any of my listings that are related in any way to firearms always, ALWAYS take 24 hours to show up.
Other items, minutes. I'm sure there are other categories with delays to make sure the item complies with policy.
They could start the auction at the time it becomes visible, but a lot of people (well, I did when I used auctions) schedule their auctions start time so that will END at a particular time.

I've been selling for 24 years, even when they charged extra for 10 day auction, I did 10 day auctions.
Usually on a Thursday night so people get 2 full weekends to look at thr item, and they end on Sunday night when people should be home to bid. (If they don't know about "sniper" programs)
(I also don't start them so they end on a major sports event or a 3 day holiday)

Not knowing it was a he or she, the best bet is to call it an it.

I had one disconnect on me, I figured they hung up. Then 10 minutes later I got a call back. He said the call dropped. I had figured he didn't like what I was complaining about and decided to end the call because I was being very persistent my situation be resolved.
So sometimes calls just drop... they are supposed to call back, but perhaps this time chose not to.

You do realize that eBay customer service is mostly over seas in other countries? They may not know how to transfer a call. Just taking shot. I know they do hang up when people are hostile with them. Most of them are clueless as to what's going on with eBay. They read from scripts and most of the time give out incorrect/false info most of the time.
Sorry for your experience.
Use the Facebook link for CS. It works:

I have had them disconnect on me.
Both deliberate, and probably accidentally, usually with transfers to ankther person.

I have no information on newer sellers or infrequent sellers having to wait longer for their listings to appear. The site has to reindex for any listing to appear. Per the User agreement they should show up withing 24 hours, I'm not sure where the 36 is coming from.
Yes, you are correct, for everyone, a new listing will show up within seconds in your Seller Hub under Active Listings. The re-indexing of the site affects the general search of the site, you are absolutely correct.
I haven't checked how fast mine show up in searches for years. I'll have to do that and see next time I post some new listings.

Sorry, apparently I offended you. Not my intent.

That is a great point @frankenhobbit .
I remember back when I sold name brand fragrances, my listings often took up to 24 hours to show up. It was explained to me that they were going through a VERO review.
Not that your stuff would. More likely for you it is a compliance thing to the rules for firearms. But still a very interesting thing to bring up as it would affect other sellers too.

Here is my input on why listing times vary to go live.
Many newbie sellers tend to edit quite a bit, you know, tweaking the listing, finding typo's etc, I know I did at the start coz I wanted it to be just perfect.
What new sellers don't realise is that each time an edit is made, the indexing clock starts again - that may be why some new sellers seem to have longer wait times than regular experienced sellers.....just a thought.

Reps hang up on me all the time. They do not like being confronted with ebays written published policies when they contradict how they want to act. When shown proof they are wrong they just terminate the conversation. Politeness doesn’t matter.

If they're routinely hanging up on you, I'd look at the common factor in those interactions...
Nothing in the OP's post was about differing from published policies; in fact, the OP did not understand the published policies.
