COMIC BOOK SELLING

eBAY is becoming a real pain in selling comic books. Now they want me to list the PUBLISHER of the comic book. Who gives flying care who the publisher is?  If you are going to purchase a comic book one should know what they want. Buyers don't purchase a comic based on the publishers name. Does anyone just purchase any DC or Marvel comic at random?  NO they buy the comic based on the title or character. Besides, is there any comic book published that doesn't have their name or trademark on the cover? Wake up eBay! You are making listing harder to do and therefore reducing your revenue! Geez, I can't imagine who is making these dumb decisions at corporate. They should be given a job they can handle like copy person.

COMIC BOOK SELLING

Why is it hard to include the publisher?

I thought the more item specifics a listing has, the better it shows in search?

Thanks,

Lynn

They want you to, or they require you to? (Not having ever listed a comic book, I have no idea).

Not at random, but there are collectors who care about the publisher. My friend collects anything by Marvel.

You can't search eBay by what is in a picture.

As a music dealer and collector I know people who collect by artist, by label, by format, by genre, by era, by state, by city,  and even by chart position. I would never assume that just because I don't collect in a certain way that others do not.

Seriously? Its basic data. Would you list a Camaro without putting Chevrolet or Chevy in front?

You would EXPECIALLY want to list the publisher if its any kind of a rare title so that a buyer searching for - such as - 'any DC title' would find your listing even if they werent looking for your title. Of course you should put the publisher in the title.

Would you list a baseball card published by "Topps" and not identify  "Topps" as the publisher?

I checked this via search and most who list these things do put in the publisher.

Like DC Superman, Marvel Thor, etc.

It only takes a few seconds and may be an advantage to you for search.

Are you selling high quality/price comics? If you do, spending time of giving all the information, and pictures on different angles of the comic would not only protect you, but help you to get more buyers. Remember, there are savvy scammers out there waiting for a naïve, excuse the adjective here, seller listing a valuable item with not enough information for a good defense so they can buy it and send you a copy cat.

Now, if you are doing it for $1 profit, gee! I wouldn't spend enough time but list it, and give it a try. It's all about "time is the essence".

It just seemed, to me, that that would be standard info that would be included.

That's all.

Oh that's not all they do. Scammers run thick and deep in the comic book world. One of the favorites is a saved search and when a new listing for a book they want to CGC shows up at a low price they buy it. When it arrives and it was priced correctly for the condition they start a return.

As common as a scam as they come.

When they rack up enough dings from being reported for that they start a new user name.
