Buyers who make the selling experience enjoyable

I am always pleasantly surprised to receive a small note when a buyer is excited about an order they've placed.

A reminder, of sorts, that most people are well-intentioned.

Sure, the money is nice, but for me, these small gestures are what makes the selling experience here really rewarding.

Nice post and agree that sometimes these little things get lost within the eBay chaos. 👍

The trick/challenge is taking buyers who may not be as ecstatic and turning them into a fan/follower of yours.

I recently sold a piece of signed pottery, and got a note from the buyer that his grandfather had made it. I've sold things to people that replaced lost or broken family heirlooms, things lost in a fire, things they had when they were a child, pieces going into museums, old yearbooks that their parents were in.  I love getting those sort of messages. It's what Ebay should be about - getting the items into the hands of the right people.

I'm always happy to get those nice messages and really appreciate them - even just "Thank you!" is great. I also think that most people are honest and well intentioned, and always have been.

Agreed.  I usually do that thru messages, but occasionally do other things like this...

I have been putting a free sticker in all the MLB items that I sell of the team they have purchased.  Thus far, not one message response.  They are the cool 90s holographic team logos put out with Fleer brand cards.  Was hoping to maybe get 1 thank you, but 0 so far 😔

I totally agree.  I have some really lovely customers who always make my day.  Fortunately, they significantly outnumber the occasional difficult buyers.

Sadly, that is the case many times.

Why don't you try messaging them ahead of time? Ask them if they would like to receive a FREE sticker as a thank you. Giving them a reason to engage back. Small concessions/tokens of appreciation go a long way with customers.

That's really lovely.

I recently received photos from a buyer showing how the item she bought from me (from my own childhood) fits into her collection.  It's extremely gratifying and brought tears to my eyes.

I agree with the comments that most people here are kind and well-intentioned.

I always try to look for the good in people and am so happy to receive kindness back.

No hoping people choke on razor blades from me! 😂

It's better to have no expectations when offering a 'thank you' gift.
