Buyers on strike??

Are eBay buyers on strike or protesting or...….. something????!  lol  26 sales last week.  3!!!! this week.  3???  Some days, it seems views do not increase at all or by only 1 in a 24 hour span.  Don't want to hear the "in demand" comments.  26 sales last week so, what I have up for sale, some  people do want.  June was decent.  Beginning of July was, also.  Hope this isn't the summer norm in 2019.   Good luck to us all.   🙂

Re: Buyers on strike??

Maybe... since I am certain a lot of it has to do with STATE SALES TAX.  A slew of states started up June 1st.  A ton more on July 1st.  A lot of businesses are hurting.

The irony?  Mine is just a little cottage industry I do part time.  I don't even qualify for sales tax in any state.  But I believe eBay had to do state sales tax across the board, since they really have no way of telling who is going to make the tax threshold for each state and who isn't.

Sales tax, postal rate increases, eBay fiddling, silly season...

I could think of a few more but suffice to say,  'perfect storm'.

Re: Buyers on strike??

eBay is the one that collects the use tax per law. eBay is well over the threshold for all states that require it so far. It doesn’t matter how much an individual makes.

Re: Buyers on strike??

Buyers might be busy this week working or doing other things.  They are catching up from vacationing over the fourth.  Or maybe not because I just came home from the campgrounds and they are full, tents on top of tents this weekend.  Never seen it this busy.  I might have a busy week next week cleaning up.

My buyers seem to run in streaks, even on the other sites. It will be dead and then all of a sudden it will be like someone hit a light switch and I will have sales, questions   and all kinds of  people here. My sister lives next door and will ask you must be selling something online again?  because she sees the strange vehicles come and go.  Yes, I am, but I list all the time it is funny how they all come at once.

Just funny how that is. when you think you would be busy, it turns into a dry spell but when I need it to be little slow online then I get swamped, just funny how that works.

Re: Buyers on strike??

No, this is happening to just about every eBayer.  In fact, I searched out these forums to see if others have had the dramatic downturn that I have had.  May, June and July are my PEAK months.  Not this year!  Last 31 days, down 72.1%.  Then I remembered this email from eBay with a link:

Re: Buyers on strike??

Did you research the forum about state tax? There are many threads on this. I think the petition eBay put up in the announcements was May 2018. Internet Sales Tax

Re: Buyers on strike??

Wildfires, earthquakes, massive flooding and now a tropical storm...

Nah, surely those events wouldn't stop people from mindlessly shopping on Ebay...

Re: Buyers on strike??

Once again, these types of disasters INCREASE my sales since my products are often used in disasters.

Nope.  Something negative is taking place that is hurting almost all sales.

I suspect they weren't ready for it.

My store has been pretty busy in the past few weeks (but seems to be a little more quiet in the past two days). I'm basing quiet on the fact that there aren't any new watchers on the items so I can't send out any offers... when I can send out offers, I seem to get a 1 in 10 response that ends in a sale. Without offers going out, makes it a little bit difficult.

I will not even be breaking 20k here this year. It was not to apply to me as a seller this is what should be a class action lawsuit for EBAY jumping the gun.
