Does anyone have this happen as often as I do?
I mean what is their game here? Are they just that dumb or do they fishing to see if we're slip up and accidentally hit accept?
I'm talking about $5 offers on $100 items.... or, worst yet, $3 offer on a $15 item that has free shipping. It'll cost more to ship than they'll pay! I mean, do they want me to pay to send them something for free?
I don't get it.
And, yes, I know you can set minimums for offer requirements, but I like to be flexible and also that's one extra step for every listing. I just don't get it.

A buyer can send any offer they want. I'd rather them be able to send stupid offers than not being able to send any at all. collect
Sometimes I just like to see an offer no matter how low it is because it helps me to gauge the possible popularity of the items I have for sale especially if I just listed them . Doesn't mean I will accept the low offers but they do have some worth IMO. Tulips

.there might be alot less angst for us.....
I got angst anyway . I sprained my right foot Monday night and can't walk at all . I'm debating about putting my store on vacation mode even though it's the worst possible time with the holidays approaching . Luckily my computer chair has wheels at least . Tulips

I recently had a buyer inform me that someone else had my (new) item listed for the same price but the other seller's was in a box and "yours has just been sitting in storage. FYI." Really? Actually it's none of their business. Maybe they wanted me to offer mine for less. I just ignored them and took down the item. I had been thinking maybe I wanted to keep it anyway. 😜

It's a mystery. On the other side of the coin, I've seen an item priced at $20 with best offer as an option. I was interested in the item at full price, but if they might take a little less, why not? So I offer $18, and it gets declined automatically. I bump it up to $19 to try again and I get the same result of being rejected automatically. So I try $19.75. Still rejected. That's just too funny. I finally buy it for full price. Another mystery on eBay.

It's just the game you have to play to sell on ebay. Get them all the time at least you know people are looking.

I once had a perfume for sale for $50 (well worth the price for the size and name) or best offer.. someone offered me $5. That was the end of me having best offers available. Yes you can automatically decline offers less than what you are wiling to accept, but come on. That is insulting and I don't need the extra aggravation. I've also had people offer me like $2 for something with free shipping. It's gonna cost me at least $3 to ship, plus the fees, I've almost felt like replying to offers like that saying "how about I just send it to you for free altogether?" but I have enough restraint to just ignore them lol.

Haha I have felt like saying that too..."why don't I just give it away!"

It's even worse when you sell a villa (real estate) for GBP £595,000 and you've got a £1 offer!
£1 offer on villa

In my case it doesn't work.
I'm selling a villa (property) for GBP £595,000 and I've got a £1 offer. My minimum amount entered is £599,000, £4 higher then the auction price. Yet I receive a ridiculous offer like this.

About 25 years ago, I helped my parents do a yard sale after they sold the house. My son, then about 12 years old , set a table with action figures priced at a 1.00. A well dressed older man in a top of the line Lexus, asked my son if he could do better on the price of the action figure. My son, looked at the pricey car and then said 99 cents. The man gave my kid a dollar. My kid came inside to get a penny change and then went outside. I was wondering why he needed the penny. So I went outside and he told me. I started cursing at the old man as he was getting in the car. Back then Lexus cars were unique and people didn't lease that much back then. So you will get all kinds of people.
As a seller, I don't totally disregard low ball offers. I just won't respond. I can imagine the cheapskate checking their phone every 10 minutes to see if I accepted. The only time that I would do a counter offer is if I am tired of that particular item. Otherwise, just ignore it. I also disregard stories about them being a veteran or handicapped or their check has not arrived. I am immune to that. So don't take it personally. Ignore . If you want , add the buyer to the block list.

Just last week a buyer messaged me (see below) about one of my BUY IT NOW items I had listed for $26.00.
Probably using the handy disabled vet line for the sympathy vote. Lol
I messaged this buyer back with this:
Thank you for your service, I can do $12, (which is almost break even for me). Let me know if this price works for you. ZZZZZZZZZ
I guess, this creature wanted it for a buck or two.
So, I added this eBayer buyer to my block list. LOL 🤣
