I just set up a promotion wherein about 200 items are discounted 30 percent off. But Ebay has changed the way in which promotions are listed so that the sale/discounted price does not show up until the buyer checks out and pays.
Let me elaborate. If you click on one of my sale items, the original - not the discounted price will show up. So if the original price is $10, the first page a buyer will see will show the item priced at $10. The 30% discount will not show up until the buyer checks out.
And when the buyer clicks on all of the items that are part of the sale/promotion, all of the original prices are shown - not the discounted price.
As a result, most buyers will not see the discounted promoted price. This is so counter-productive. At the very least, on the item's listing page, there should be a message to the effect that the 30% discount will be applied when you check out.
But the previous set up, which showed the original price plus the discounted price should be brought back.
I have no idea what ebay was thinking when they made these changes, but it is one more example of them fixing things that are not broke -- to the detriment of the selling community.
If someone from ebay reads this, please fix the mess you have made.

Hey everybody thanks for your input. I just fixed it....I canceled the promotion that was not showing the discounted price and redid it using the "sale + markdown" feature. All of my sale listings are now showing the discounted price, with the strike through.
Apparently when you create a promotion using just the "discount," it does not show the strike through or discounted prices. You need to use sale and markdown feature.
Not sure I understand why this happened, as previous sales I ran I was able to use just the discount feature, but I will attribute this to the mysteries of ebay.
Thanks again....

I don't believe the 'discount' EVER worked like this as the 'discount' is a 'if, if, if' type discount so it will NOT show an 'old price' with a 'new price' because some buyers won't qualify for the 'ifs'....
If they buy 2 or more etc.

I didn't know this. Also, I thought that when you made a store markdown that the buyer could not stack the coupon with the markdown, but I just looked at my items marked down and it shows that the buyer will get my item at the 20% markdown plus the 10% off coupon making it a total of 30% off each item. This in addition to my promotions usually set to 10% plus the 13% fee for selling jewelry and the final value fee is leaving me with very little in profit. However, if I take the promotions off, eBay doesn't show my items so I have to depend on only organic searches. I'm cross posting all my items to Mercari now as they are no longer charging seller fees and there are no monthly fees like eBay. In addition to this eBay is no longer charging fees for selling clothing but only in Canada to my understanding. How is this fair to America? The only good thing I see is that eBay has took the limit off how many items I can list, but that doesn't help me if all my items are promoted, but not being promoted as in little to no sells. I seem to get more sells when I don't do a store markdown. Perhaps because eBay gets a bigger chunk of change if my prices are higher. I have a lot of items that just sit with no views at all after 30 days and roll over. My only option is to end the item and sell similar and even though it states eBay has lifted my sales limit, it still shows I have a certain amount left for the month. This makes no sense to me. I only get sells when I promote and share, but every sell I make eBay says it sold by promotion through eBay and there's no way for me to prove it was sold organically.

It's blows my mind they never fixed this. I just found this post because I was googling why I got a random discount on eBay at checkout. What a bizarre feature.

Yes there is a problem, seems like a glitch on Coupon Codes showing discount. It always worked before, but seems my listings for 2025 are not showing the discounted price with coupon to customers as before. Yes I know about the Markdown/Sale discount that shows markdown on the listing, but this is the coupon code.
