Buyer Wrote via ebay messages:
“Hi calntom, I sent you a payment using the wrong payment card last night. I need to correct this. Can you send me a payment correction or new payment request for this item. Thanks”
This deal sounds fishy. Anyone experience this before? How to respond?
Transaction through paypal, payment was confirmed. Package has already shipped via UPS Ground. $121.07 purchase of TV Mount with free shipping.
For whatever this is worth:
I also did notice before I shipped this morning that this buyer has left 3 negs in a row during the past year for previous purchases. Only has ever leave 4 total feedbacks for others. Has a 45 rating.
(Buyer account open since 2012)

What happens with the tracking and new payment if the old tracking is already associated with another payment?
I don't think it's that black and white.
I had the same concern. When the buyer pays the new invoice they can use a different address at the time of payment, then file a claim with paypal when the package is delivered to the first address and the seller loses the INR.

You aren't taking the transaction off ebay its already been paid for and FVFs charged. When you do a paypal money request through paypal and refund through paypal ebay is going to keep the fees because you're not refunding through ebay. This has nothing to do with ebay its between you the buyer and paypal.

I agree - politely tell the buyer that the package is already in the mail and at this point there is nothing you can do about changing the payment method. Used to be that if you did a total refund thru Paypal the seller got an automatic defect I think because Ebay thought the item was OOS.

I just received another message from the buyer stating:
"Disregard my last message. I'll fix it. I have three cards on file I sent the wrong number. I was alerted to this this morning. Thanks"

Roger that.
I will let you all know how this one goes and will also respond to the buyer a little later.
I still have reservations on this transaction as the buyer had left 3 negs in a row within the past year and I don't think there was that much action on the account. Hopefully he will just get his TV mounted and move on.
I actually did find a footprint for him on the www this evening.
I would like to leave this open for discussion concerning "accepting a separate payment and refunding the original payment" and will check back in later.
I appreciate everyone's help and responses. Thank you.

"Hi Calntom, I will need to return the wall mount to you since we cannot change the payment method. I contacted the bank yesterday and they will not allow me to cover the funds on my credit card to pay for this purchase. I do not know how long you have been selling on eBay, but this is an easy fix. Let me explain, the cards I have on file are debit cards not credit cards and are linked to my bank account. The Third is a Mastercard. When I sent that payment it debited a large amount of money I had reserved for a bill. You simply need to just submit a money request from PayPal for wall mount with the item description and in the notes just put payment correction on transaction number for ebay purchase. When I send you the payment right away you can refund my other card. I will also alert ebay to this. I just need a money request from you. Please let me know. I tried the other way and there is nothing more I can do. My apologies. Leonard"

It is a $121.00 item, shipping included at UPS Ground for ~$34
I could go either way on this.

Since UPS is involved in the mix the simple solution is to send the paypal money request DO NOT put anything in the message box as to what the moneys for. Once you are notified you've been paid go to your paypal account and make sure the money is really there and if it is then go ahead and go back to their original payment and refund them then its smooth sailing afterwards...

Thank you for your communication.
Your shipment was already on the way earlier today via UPS. I could not cancel the transaction at this point for repurchase with a different payment.
Glad that you are able to rectify the situation on your end.
Best Regards, --- calntom
