Buyer wants to return bc title and description wrong

Hi. I like how eBay copies the title of a listing to the description automatically but now I have the dilemma where I posted a pair of shorts and missed the ‘2’ in the title to say that the shorts are 2XL and it also made the description wrong. However the listing included a picture of the tag on the shorts that clearly states ‘2XL’. The item’s details show size 2XL as well. Does the buyer have a case to return the shorts?

If you got the size wrong, you made the mistake, and if you made the mistake, you  are responsible for making it right with the buyer.

Yes, they have a case as Ebay has long acknowledged that buyers do not have to read descriptions beyond reading the title.

@leverkusenschlebusch

If the title and description was wrong, yes, the buyer can return them.

Have A Great Day.

Of course the buyer can return the shorts. The fact that you failed to catch the error is your fault, not the buyer's fault. You are responsible for any information in the listing, whether you typed it or allowed eBay to to fill it in.

Everything in the listing (Title, Photos, Item Specifics, And description) has to match.

eBay doesn't sell anything and has no clue what you really have but they will gladly

auto fill stuff in for you but that is no guarantee that the information is correct.

Regardless of how the information gets into the listing the Seller is 100% responsible

for any mistakes.

I think you know the answer:

The title gives the wrong size.   The description gives the wrong size.   The only thing that shows the correct size is a photograph of a tag on the shorts, which tag is readable only if the buyer zooms the photo.

Yes, the buyer is entitled to a return and refund.

I know it's a drag, but evey seller here has made some sort of similar blunder and had to take the ensuing lumps.

Thank you for being adult about this.

Too many sellers whine on and on about how Mummy eBay should be coddling them and fixing all the problems they caused themselves.

It was your fault. You can't expect the buyer to keep the item.  Nothing unfair about it.  Just an oops.
