After a ten day auction buyer was the only one to Bid. Lots of views and many watchers. Now buyer ask to delay paying for thirteen days after buyer won. Not cool for me, but should I ask him to cancel on his end and relist to try for another buyer in the wait time. If I cancel on him and copy in his email message how does Ebay look at Me? The item was for hundreds of dollars, so he might back out after the time too.
thanks

If they are not ready to pay WHEN THEY WIN, they aren't going to pay 13 days later.....
You can open an unpaid item case after 48 hours.

I recently had a non-paying bidder too. If you do nothing and the buyer doesn't pay, you'll receive this message from ebay:
"You recently sold an item, but the buyer hasn't paid. Since it's been more than 4 days from the time of the sale, we opened an unpaid item case for you. If you don't get paid by [date about 4 days ahead], we'll give you a final value fee credit and the buyer will get an unpaid item recorded on their account. You can relist your item once the case closes. In the meantime, try to contact the buyer to get paid or send them an invoice. Once the buyer pays, the case will close automatically."
Mine was a Global Shipping sale so I can't invoice them.
Every buyer I've had who has asked for more time to pay has paid, but it's up to you if you want to wait. (And I much prefer if they ask in advance (before they bid) if I'm willing to wait for payment. If you do nothing and ebay takes care of the process, that's about 8 days until you can relist. It's only 5 more to wait for your buyer - can you tell anything from his feedback and what kinds of things he's bought?
If you decide to wait for this buyer to pay, you can turn off sending the automatic unpaid item reminder from ebay.

Ignore, file non payment when you can, block

I have a note in almost every description that suggests "Pay Within Three Days". The ebay four day limit played right into my note that has ben in use for almost ten years.
If someone watches and/or bids on a ten day auction and sees a note regarding paying within a reasonable amount of time they shouldn't bother asking for more time. Especially on something priced in the hundreds.
If you don't have a polite note reminding bidders to pay within a few days sometimes they will just tie up your inventory for an extra week if you grant them more time.
However, the new ebay policy is pay within four days or the bidder is out. I rarely get a non-payer.

You would need to be setup for eBay to step in after X day to do the non paying notice using Unpaid Assistant. It is not automatic and not everyone is setup that way.https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/resolving-unpaid-items-buyers?id=4137&st=12&pos=1&que...

Open an UNPAID dispute on him. After the case is at end and he still has not paid block him. Then relist the item on BUY IT NOW at a higher price immediate payment required. NEVER agree to a buyer delaying payment for that long. You will find they NEVER pay you. The unpaid case will also ensure you get your listing fee back.

I can understand peoples thinking, really wanting something but not being paid for X days or weeks so they can't get it right away (this is why God invented credit cards though, duh), but it seems unreasonable to expect a seller to tie their up for almost a month waiting to see if they will be paid or not. 😐
Personally I do not bother with auctions and I list everything BIN with make offer available (item priced 10-20% above the price I want with auto accept offers of anything in between the lowest price I want and the listed price) and immediate payment required.
However, regarding the "unpaid item dispute" as others have stated above, the importance of it is (besides recovering your fees) that it helps other sellers in the future who have their settings to not allow those who have not paid in the past bid on their items. If you have not set yours up that way you may want to look into it to avoid time wasters in the future.

Have had buyers request a delayed payment in the past and all paid up when they said they would. Some of the reasons given - they only get paid once/month - people like teachers, military personal, those on social security, etc, Some don't have a credit card.
My only condition to accept the delayed payment is that they pay up when they said they would or I'd open an UPI case.

.. and perhaps some are waiting for one of their deadbeat buyers to pay them 🙂

nothing is guaranteed in life but most people are good. Sold for 41 years and I found that to be true. Yes you can & will run into a dead beat but they are few and far between. And sellers are not always top drawer as well.

We just had this happen last week - we require immediate payment on a BIN, but this was an offer, where you cannot enforce that. 2 days passed and they emailed and asked if they could wait until Saturday when their e-Bay bucks would be available as they had $23 they could apply. Buyer had good FB and acct since '03.
We agreed to it, but stated it would not ship until Monday due to Easter weekend, so please pay us on Sunday. They did. Waited 6 days - not optimal, but they paid when they said they would, so we kept the sale. Ours was only $78 - 13 days is a long time to wait for them to pay and then after you file, you're waiting even longer. (not a competitor who has one up who wants yours to sit idle for 2 weeks while he/she sells theirs is it?)

Up to you if you want to wait, but given the lack of interest I would try it.

orly, so UID's are now automatic like it or not?
Not disagreeing, but that is a new one on me.
Probably best this way.
