I had a buyer win an auction item last night. Buyer wanted to add a BIN item to his order.
Shouldn't the buyer be able to add the BIN item to his cart and request total along with the auction item?
(and then I can send buyer a revised combined shipping invoice).
Is this not the correct procedure? Or maybe the buyer does not understand how to add items for Request Total.
Anyway next morning no response from buyer and his auction item has been paid for.
Did I go about this wrong?

That should work, but for some reason I have never been able to view a buyer's cart nor been able to send an invoice for any item not actually purchased. What I do is have the buyer pay for the BIN and auction items separately, but then I combine them into a single package and refund the difference in shipping cost. This works quite well.

Sometimes the cart works and sometimes it doesnt.
If it doesnt work or they dont know how, I usually have the buyer purchase the items and then I refund the extra shipping paid.
Its not hard to do and saves time.

Frequently and for reasons that eBay only sometimes reveals the Request Total option but is not available.
The easiest thing to do is to tell the buyer to pay the full amount and you will refund the combined shipping discount amount.
There are other somewhat more complicated methods as well but I always try the easy way if the buyer is trusting.
Since in this situation the buyer has already paid for one item you could send the buyer an offer on the second item at the corrected price or you can add Best offer to the listing and have them make an offer for the agreed upon amount. Sending a coupon for the discount amount would also work.

Some buyers can do it..but most cannot.
I am always refunding shipping costs to International Buyers.
Have to understand that wonderful .40 cent charge a seller gets charged per transaction where guess who gets that revenue.
Seems like an easy fix for eBay but why fix it?
