Just sold a surface pro on eBay. The buyer immediately messaged me after paying asking for the serial number. It’s shown in one of the photos, but should I go ahead and give it to them? The serial number is visible in the picture but a little hard to see. Is there any chance this is a scam?

If it's already in the photos it's probably fine. May be their way of wanting to make sure it matches with the photo.
But what is it? Surface serial number or Windows?

It depends if the serial has any value to it. If it does, I'd tell them to wait until they get the item.
Like if it's a Windows authorization/validation code, that's the item that has the value and not the media itself. Basically, if someone can pull a Windows serial off of a listing, that pretty much ends the copy on the machine as a legitimate license.

It’s just the serial number of the surface I’m pretty sure

I doubt it is a scam did you list serial # in listing. You should have. Never allow pictures to be a little hard to see for your listings. I think you are ok to give serial number to the buyer he or she paid for it should not be any harm in this.

Electronics aren’t what I usually sell so I was a bit new to this unfortunately. I’ll know better for next time. Thank you for the reassurance though
