I had an item up for auction and a winning bid was placed. The buyer didn't pay despite me sending multiple messages that it would not ship until I was paid.
I opened an unpaid item case with Ebay and waited for four days. I never got payment and the case was closed.
Now the buy has requested a refund for the item since they didn't recieve it.
I'm worried I'm going to get screwed here because of a buyer who's clearly a scammer. Will the fact I have a closed unpaid item case be enough for me to prove this person doesn't deserve a refund?

Double check your paypal account just to make sure there wasn't some sort of glitch and you didn't get payment confirmation.
If they didn't pay and there's no paypal transaction they can request a refund all they want. They will get back what they paid $0.00. Call CS and point out the member never paid for the item so they are not entitled to a refund.
Add the buyer to your Blocked Bidders List (BBL).

You don't owe the buyer any money. Buyer received a strike on their account. Nothing will happen to you.

My paypal info is correct and I just checked my history there and didn't have anything from this buyer.
I relisted the item after the unpaid claim was closed and it sold just fine.
I'll call CS and let them know about the problem. From the look of it this buyer has a history of not paying for items.

my guess is that they hope to confuse you enough that you'll ship out the item.

CS closed the case and all is well.
Thanks!

Why don't you know what to do when a buyer doesn't pay?

@divwido Where did you come up with that? If you read the post, the OP filed and closed an unpaid item strike. Obviously he knows what to do when a buyer doesn’t pay SMDH.
And ix-talon is right. Nothing will happen to OP and he doesn’t owe the buyer a refund.

Isn't is just crazy that a buyer can open an INR when they didn't pay? How should this even be possible?
Now OP has to waste time and call CS, which no one enjoys doing, because of a case that shouldn't even be open?

It IS crazy! And its a double whammy because the INR was filed when a)the buyer never paid and b)an unpaid item case was filed and closed. The reason this can happen is because the buyer may have paid using a method ebay can't see. Now if ebay cant "see" that the buyer paid, obviously they paid outside of ebay which means they aren't covered by the MBG so you would think a case wouldn't be allowed to be open but.....you know ebay! They would rather cause the seller stress and let the buyer file a case rather than direct them to contact the seller! And there is no connection between an UID and a INR, the UID doesn't block an INR so thats also why the case was allowed to be opened! Crazy isn't it?
