I recently had a buyer inform me that the part they purchased did not fit. However they are referencing a part they did not buy from us. Buyer is also trying to contact me outside of ebay messages. Buyer is ignoring my message replies, has threatened negative feedback and refuses to return the original items or even send a picture of what they are referring to. What, if anything can I do to protect myself and keep from getting negative feedback? I have reported the buyer, as I have only had to do a couple times in the past. I have evidence to support everything I'm talking about. Thank you

You realize your feedback doesn't mean much? Not sure why you came for advice if you were just gonna fold up and give in anyway. You let this buyer bully you, so that when the next buyer tries it you will fold again. And again. And again. Because it's what you do now.

There's always a notation in messages that says exchanging contact info may result in penalizing one party or the other.
Actually both parties get a warning the first time, and both may be subject to sanctions after that.

I relented.
Huge and unnecessary mistake.

That was EXACTLY the WRONG thing to do for all the WRONG reasons. Your FB means nothing in the greater scheme of things and all you've done is passed the problem on to the next seller.
@rlmmem587 You made a very serious mistake.

In other words seller just paid for feedback, a completely worthless commodity. I wouldn't refund a nickel solely to avoid risk of neg FB.

I don't know who you're talking to at ebay that will magically remove wrongly posted negative feedback but I've love to know. In the last year, these are some of the situations I've had:
1. buyer returned an item that wasn't mine. I provided pictures and evidence to ebay. I lost the case and the appeal, buyer kept item and got money back
2. buyer left negative feedback and called my wife a femal dog in a message, nothing ebay can do about it.
3. buyer sends me pics of a defect and opens a case. I send a return, buyer doesn't close the case and still wins. I lose appeal also. Buyer gets 2 items and refund.
4. buyers can't get something to work becuase they ordered wrong, start a case and send back a modified or altered part. they end up with a refund and I scrap the parts.
I don't have tens of thousands of feedback, so yeah it's important to me. I've only been doing this for a few years. So all the comments about me making a grave mistake, and what a terrible decision I made isn't helpful to my post. Even when I presented customer service with their own policy and how it was violated, I have never had a judgement in my favor uless their was a return and the buyer let it lapse without returing it in time. Maybe the next seller that you say I've made a problem for will have better luck. If you don't have a helpful comment to maketo contribute, don't leave one at all.

But not in any way that matters. It's a pat on the back. An attaboy. Nothing more.
Standing up to 'buyers' like this is where you show your mettal and earn your battle scars. A well worded reply to a Neg can go farther than a Positive.
