Buyer unreasonably asks for return

111.jpg1.jpg

My post makes it clear that it has been used *not tested and sold as is, as a part or repair *these cameras are from an educational institution (no batteries and chargers/cameras only)

Please ask any questions before bidding/buying as items are sold as is. I have nothing to hide and I remind buyers to ask any questions before bidding

eBay approves buyer returns for 'not working'

Totally unacceptable, obvious abuse of the return mechanism

Have you ever met

An unhappy buyer can return anything for any reason.

You have 2 options. You can accept the return, get the items back and do a refund, or you can refund and let the buyer keep the items.

Buyer unreasonably asks for return

this is a simple case of return abuse

as is dos not cut it if the buyer wants a return

please do not fight this, its futile

just say YES to the return. the reason I say that is that the buyer wants you to say yes and so does ebay

that`s two out of three in favor of the return

I have met plenty of hard headed ebayers who make a stand and dig in there heels

please dont be that person

The condition you chose is "Used". The description for "Used" says that it is full operational and functions as intended:

You cannot contradict that elsewhere in your listing.

IMHO this is 100% on you for choosing a condition that contradicts the rest of your listing.

Being "unreasonable" is allowed on ebay.

It always makes me wonder about deception when items are claimed as 'untested'.  If tested and working the item could be worth ten times more.    Why didn't you test them?  You have lots of 'similar' camera equipment for sale or sold.  The working stuff, I guess the ones you tested, those are listed as pre - owned.  It's asking the buyer gamble.   In Vegas it goes but on eBay not.

Saying it's untested is not the same as saying it's broken.

Well you listed them as "used" and NOT "For Parts Or Repair" like you should have. I would just accept the return and relist them under "Parts or Repair only", now this doesn't mean that a buyer can't return them BUT because many buyers don't read descriptions, if they see "parts only" opposed to "used" then hopefully it would deter some bad buyers. You've been on eBay for 13 years, you should know by now that their is no such thing as "no returns" and it's best to just accept returns and get the 10% off final value fee's and a bump in search.

Hmm so you think you can dump junk on eBay and the buyer when they find out it is junk: should have no recourse???

Your description does not over ride the used as being fully functional as well.

Well eBay got rid of that when they made the money back guarantee (which you agree to when selling on eBay): Don't sell junk and you wont have this problem.

I have to agree. His large inventory of cameras, many the same brand, means he has access to all the batteries and chargers to test them. Why wouldn't you take an hour or so to test them?
Testing them and being able to sell them as "pre-owned" would have tripled the value he could have sold them for.
I'm just curious....

Not only did you use the wrong condition when you listed it, making the return perfectly within eBay guidelines, your note to "Zero Feedback Members" is unforceable.   So are some of your other TOS.

You cannot make up your own condition definitions and you cannot make up your own polices as to who and who may not purchase on eBay or other TOS.

Why not list your items honestly, as "For Parts or Not Working," and bring your TOS within eBay policy, as well?   And why use photos showing the batteries very prominelty, as you do in one listing, and then say they're not included?   Why do you wish to appear to be deceptive?

When I see "untested" in a listing, I assume the seller knows it just doesn't work. Especially when he has all the equipment available to test it.

Maybe someone took advantage of your misstep or maybe they just did not read the description? Hard to say and i would not take it personal. Listing it as Used is the error.  You may want to look at some of your other listings and make adjustments (parts or repair) to try to prevent this from happening again.

Good luck.

The safest thing to do would be to list items like this as for "parts or repair". But even if you do, buyers can return items for any reason for 30 days, even if you put "no returns". They can say "item not as described", even if it is. If you don't accept the return, eBay can issue a refund anyway.

Not cool call some thing used, and then slip into a wall of text that it is just for parts. Your fine print is trumped by the eBay moneyback guarantee.
