Not sure what happened to my first post so here is an abbreviated version. I sold a Microcassette player in perfect working order to a buyer and he sent me back his broken one. I have clear photos of his deception and have sent him a message declaring so.
This is doesn't rank up there with the dollar value of the Chanel Bag switch, or the Palleted Air Conditioner for the 15# Box of Garbage return, or the latest--Laptop versus Hammer fiasco, but this is my $45 dollars and I am mad.
Ebay only gives 2 options to sellers...refund and protect your account, or don't refund and wait for them to refund anyway and give you an unresolved strike for your efforts. Both of these solutions reward the scammer.
I'm afraid to call CS because I've read they sometimes put you out of your misery and just close the case in favor of the buyer behind your back.
Is is there anything else I can do? I intend to see this through to the end.

When you call ebay make sure to get a supervisor on phone .

Thanks. I am very distrustful and clearly on the short end of this stick. I'm afraid that calling in and making supervisor demands angers the CS folk, and they are the ones that turn around and "fix" things for you by closing the case in favor of the buyer. Has anyone recently won an "appeal"?
I keep reading about the buyer always winning. I truly can't believe how easy this is to do--send back your old broken items with no consequences.

Update! "Buyer" has messaged me asking how to close the return! I have no idea how to do this.
Is it under Purchase History? Then on the right it says "more actions"? Should it say "close return" under there?

I believe they have to close it...glad you called him out on it..I hate thieves..simply hate them..

Thank you Em. I believe you are one of those fabulous writers who have helped many in the past. I borrowed from some of your writings.
Yes, I am wondering how to instruct the buyer on where to go to close his case.

If he goes into the details of the case, there is a link for him to click on if he wants to close the case, and it is clearly identified.
IIRC, it is on the top right hand side.

Thank you all for listening to my lunatic rantings.
My buyer made "mistake" and "accidentally" sent back the broken one.
Case is closed by the buyer. No harm to my account. There was no "in my favor" designation so I am left wondering if there is a feedback bullet coming my way.
I learned a lot from this! Holy cow! The most nifty thing was downloading the fancy paint app so I could "circle" things. Not bad for an old lady.

I doubt this buyer wants any more attention drawn to him. He's probably sweating bullets right now wondering what happens next.
He accidently packed the wrong one..let me LOL at that one..he just tried you and you didn't bend over...this is a feel good story of the day..
Do an internet search on him and see what kind of character he possesses...I can guess lol..
