Hi all. It's taking a long time to get through to Ebay so I'm trying this. I sent an item to buyer in Miami, FL (from VA). Checked on delivery status and I believe it was on the 8th that it was attempted but states that business was closed. I emailed the buyer about it and stated that he should be able to go to the post office to pick it up. His response is as follows:

Have never had anyone say that I must pick up the package and obviously that's not something I'm going to do. Do I just cancel the order and contact the post office to have it shipped back to me? Do I need to get Ebay's approval before I do anything?
Thanks in advance!

When the buyer says you are responsible for delivery, he didn't mean to imply you personally need to hand-deliver the package, but to ensure the carrier does. And in actuality, an attempted delivery is considered an official delivery by eBay, signaling the end of your obligation to deal with the matter. However, that said, if the tracking doesn't show a re-delivery after a day or so, I would go the extra mile and contact the carrier to make sure they are going to attempt another during a regular business day.

Hello.
This article is for export to Guatemala.
I spoke to the offices in Miami and they told me that you must complete the delivery.
It is open from Monday to friday( from 8 morning to 5), Saturday and Sunday it is closed.
I hope you can help me, this is the favorite birthday gif of my daugther.
Bless you!

In the case of Saturday delivery "business is closed", they should be re-attempting delivery. It should not be required that anyone go to the post office and pick it up.
You might want to follow this one up with USPS, but I've shipped lots of things that were "for export" and if the business was closed they just redelivered it a day or two later.

I would double check the address they supplied. You don't appear to offer international shipping so I am guessing they had you ship it to a shipping forwarder they are using. If there was a delivery attempt on the 8th and they were closed that would explain why. If the carrier hasn't tried to re-deliver on a business day I would call the shipping carrier's support number and ask them to re-deliver the package during normal business hours.

the buyer just wants it delivered to a reshipper, obviously since it was closed he`s hoping that maybe the usps is going to attmept delivery again,if it was closed on the 8th which was saturday then it shoud be updating soon.
I ship all the time to reshippers but do not know the hours even though I am in the USA

I see this message frequently with the forwarder in Doral FL, every time a few days later it shows as "delivered to agent".
Just give it a few days and know that even if the tracking doesn't update it likely will still be delivered.

"I spoke to the offices in Miami and they told me that you must complete the delivery."
This reads to me like he was saying that it must be delivered first on this end, not that you need to do anything.
What I find odd is that a business that is a shipping business is closed to receiving mail, or has no safe mail drop except certain hours, that doesn't seem very professional, but maybe that's the normal. Plus it is not a weekend so it should have been delivered already?
Also, when buyers start mentioning relatives, as innocent as it is, I get nervous. 😬
