Hi, today 1/15/21 a buyer sent me back an empty box filled with bubble wrap and now expects to get her refund. The buyer originally said she received the item damaged and wanted her money back and filed a "Not as described" complaint against me. Ebay gave me options to pay her immediately or have her send back the damaged item and refund her once I received my item back. Well, I requested she send back the broken item and I'd pay for the shipping, which I did, then afterwards I would pay her. EBAY's policy says not to refund until I receive the item back and inspect it, which I did. Once I opened the box and discovered it was empty I immediately filed a complaint to ebay and told them what she did. In their problem section I hit the option button: "..... seller sent an empty box." so this tells me ebay definitely is aware Buyers do this and get paid anyway. What are my are my chances of ebay taking my side, the Seller? Honestly, with everything that's happening in the world today, I'm shocked a person would go so far to do something this despicable to steal money from another and keep my item. She obviously has done this before. Has this happened to you? Does anyone have any recommendations or advice? I'm very upset and still in shock. Thank you.

If eBay takes the buyers side then you need to call eBay on the phone and try to convince them you have been ripped off. Do not rely on the computer generated answer as the finial decision.

How much was the item? Unfortunately the chances are ebay will side with the buyer. All you can do is block her id and move on. Some file police reports for online theft on the scammer. But generally speaking if you were a brick and motor store you would expect a certain level of theft and just have to eat the loss. Its the same online these days so don't list pricey items you can't afford to lose. This problem has happened to many many sellers you should do some reading on this board so you are better prepared the next time it happens.

Stories like this are awful to read about. Eb should eat some of the cost of this as an expense of online business.

If eBay don't do the right thing call police , file a report for fraud. Ebay should have all the data if they used multiple accounts or news ones to commit fraud

And also file a fraud report with the PO
