Before getting started, I want to say that I am relatively new to eBay. So I was not fully aware of the safe practices and possible scam attempts.
I listed an item and a buyer offered buy it now price. I accepted the offer obviously though I thought it is weird for a moment. The buyer asked me to send pictures to his email. He (I assume he) sent his email address. I sent pictures using one of my email, which happened to be my eBay account as well.
A few minutes later, I received an email that says it is PayPal and it received the payment from the buyer and it is holding that money. I thought it is a legit email from PayPal as I do not have much experience. Later I found out that the email was scam. The buyer sent me a message asking me to mark the item as paid. Because I thought I got an email from PayPal saying that the payment was received, I accepted his request and marked the item as paid. I did not fully understand the implications of that action. Obviously I got a payment confirmation from eBay. I thought that everything went without a problem. I never suspected a scam. I sent the item and it is delivered.
I do not know why but the buyer admitted that the payment was not made. I contacted eBay and PayPal and realized that the payment was never made.
I opened an unpaid case. It is annobvious scam and I still have that scam PayPal email.
Is it likely that eBay do more than giving the fee back to me for this case?
