I have a buyer who opened a case against me stating I sold them an item that was not as described in my posting. They made false claims and is requesting a refund. I responded stating the claims were false and that I would refund, but I want the item returned to me in the same condition as when I sent it , but I will not pay for the return shipping. I'm afraid the Buyer will damage the item and state that it was that way when received. Will Ebay step in? In the past, I was able to talk to someone from Ebay on how to resolve an issue before it escalated, but no phone numbers for Ebay are available now. Ebay has put a hold on my account.....what can I do?

@powell-memorabilia wrote:I wouldn’t take the reply as an insult. There is nothing wrong with lower end items - I’d rather own Dollar General than a stand-alone antique store. It is just reality - it doesn’t make sense to spend an hour on the phone with eBay, pay for a return label, relist the item, and pray that you don’t have yet another issue - all over a $5-$10 item.
Agreed. If the numbers don't add up, they don't add up. No need to sugar coat it.

In addition to what has been succinctly and correctly stated by several members regarding the MBG I believe long time knowledgeable buyers will know your policy is unenforceable. Newbies may get scared away and look for another seller.

Yep. And sales are lost to knowldegable buyers, too, who don't care to deal with sellers who either don't understand the MBG or think they can duck it.

Because eBay has the photos and description of the item being sold. And when the buyer states in their email it arrived in perfect condition but is not what she/he/they thought, ebay should do the right/ ethical thing and back the seller.

description of raw coins is in the eye of the beholder, unless certified every one has a different opinion on the grade of a coin, if you do not like the coin you claim not has described so you can send it back even though the seller has no returns, if the buyer is dishonest he will win and e bay seems to favor the buyer.
e bay takes advantage of the seller even though they cut 12.9%

E bay has a monopoly, with no competition they win

All my listings are free shipping and returns all factored into the prices of my items. Merchants figure out what they need to charge for their merchandise to control for bad customers. I suggest you do the same and this creates an easy return process with no headaches or crazy interactions.
