Buyer returned an item to the wrong address but ebay forced the refund.

Buyer started a return and sent the item back to my address from 3 years ago despite it not being my return address. It was delivered and ebay took the money for refund but i dont have the item and have no way of getting it as i dont know who lives there now and I am halfway across the country now. I tried chatting and they told me to call a number that goes to a recording and then hangs up. I need that money back but i dont know who to call or contact.

Not that I saw fernwood. You would think there would be a "confirm return address" button and you could just check it, but no. I had to do a google search to find where the return address was buried in the settings. Because I knew it had to be stored on ebay somewhere, it wasn't pulling the data from paypal.

My return screens are all different now that the case is closed. You know how on the return details page, it has a time stamp and entry whenever something new happens right? As soon as the buyer opened the case the first time stamp was something like "Case opened bla bla bla - Seller return address listed as my old address." I noticed right there it was pulling my old address from somewhere. Even when you accept the return, and you commit to paying for a return shipping label, I don't think you can even view the shipping label. I don't believe I had an option to preview the label at all, which is really stupid. I wanted to double check the address had in fact changed...

I've read through the replies, but not sure if anyone posted where to double check your addresses.

Go to My ebay > Summary > Account > Personal Info > Addresses

There are FIVE places to enter your address for different options.  Click on EDIT and double check each one.

no. i sold the defective one as. defective honestly a couple months ago taking a lost of $200 on the purchase.

I agree, you should now go into your settings and update your address so this doesn't happen again.

When ever you print a ebay shipping label it shows you a "ships from/return to" address just above the customer's address.

I imagine that's what address is used for a return.  If that address was wrong, you shuld have changed it.
