I received a message from a buyer that he had put in the incorrect address. The change was the apartment number. Digits were transposed.
The sale is about $8 including free shipping. It's a US address and I'm a US seller. Paid through PayPal.
My first instinct was, sure, just change the apartment number.
Stop here:
1) What would you do at this point?
After answering, click Spoiler and then answer question 2.

Correct it. You'll be fine, the city, state and zip will remain the same.

For eight bucks, I would ship without giving it a second thought. IF I did give it a second thought, that thought would be that ebay and paypal only look at the ZIP code for INR claims anyway.

Thanks. Understood that I'm likely covered under the rules by shipping to the same street address so that delivery tracking will show delivered if it goes to the updated address.
Do you think there's a chance the buyer was hoping to create a discrepancy (given the info in the spoiler?)
This just happened to me yesterday.
Coincidentally this video just came on my YouTube this morning. Seller / vlogger Lindey Glenn describes a situation where the buyer asked for delivery of $80 shoes to her office rather than her home...same city and state in both addresses, just a different street. And it resulted in a case. Item was delivered. Buyer said it wasn't, and asked for a replacement. eBay refunded the buyer and also let Lindey keep the money.

I do not agree with the others.
Regardless of what amount the sale was, sending the item to any address besides the address the payment came from is just asking for trouble later.
Don't you just love how everyone else is so generous with your $8 OP? It's really polarizing, LOL

Yep, this is exactly what you are opening yourself up to when sending to a different address than the one you received the paymet from. And I think in most cases, ebay will refund the buyer with your money, not their own money.

Thanks for the replies from 3 of you so far.
Given that the protection is there no matter what as you all agree, does the info in the spoiler make you think differently about the situation (even if you come to the same conclusion?)... If it were a higher $ sale, would the info in the Spoiler make a difference to you?

I am generally suspcious of a buyer who makes a brand new account and buys from me first thing.
In my case I believe I have a justified reason to be paranoid since I sell electronics. But what I discovered so far from ALL of these people buying with new accounts is that in my case they were foreigners using freight forwarding services, and they all paid by e-check in hopes I'd ship before the payment cleared, which of course I did not.
Anyhow, I've put a stop to all of that nonsense now by requiring immediate payment.
As I said, any amount can be scammed, just because it's a lower dollar amount doesn't mean that you should treat it any differently. I just know that I would never agree to send to any address other than the one that is on the Paypal.

Haha. I thought there'd be some differences of opinions on this one. Interesting to see how different sellers handle these situations and choices.

This is a joke but for $2 I'll give you insurance.

You asked.......
I looked at the order and saw the buyer had Feedback Score = (0)....
and suspected that that was an error becasue of the Bug in Seller Hub new Orders page that shows about 25% of Buyers with only the BuyerUsername, not their full name, and an incorrect Feedback Score =(0), so that I see (0) all day every day and 99% of those are due to an eBay bug. But I digress...
Clicking through to the buyer, I see that his Feedback Score really is (0) and that he joined eBay that day. The same day.
I told you - I never look at that stuff so it makes no difference to me.
Clear enough now?
