If you decline the cancellation request the buyer will not get a non-payment strike because it's only one cancellation per transaction - meaning if you decline the buyer-opened cxl request you cannot cxl in 4 days for non-payment.

Just accept the cancel and be done with it. Relist and move on.

This issue seems persistent in electronics. I noticed a lot of auction listings being relisted after a buyer won an auction, so I will have to start bidding again for an entire week and restart the process.

@savorysolutions

You've sure sold that same computer lots of times! Couple that with private bidding and I'm not surprised buyers are cancelling.

My suggestion would be that instead of running private auctions (which raise red flags in my mind), you should decide on a price you'll be happy with and list as FP/IPR.

Why bother? Look, maybe you'll force his hand and he pays and takes delivery.  Then he might damage it and force a return for INAD and your stuck paying for shipping both ways, losing the computer, and a lot of aggravation.  Accept the cancelandsay good riddance!

Don't forget to add this buyer to your Blocked Bidder List (BBL), so he cannot pull this stunt on you again.

Cheers, Duffy

You don't have to cancel the order, but you'll probably be better off.

Buyer could pay, receive the item, say it's not as described and you'll have to pay return shipping and give a full refund.

Have a great day.

@savorysolutions

Just cancel the transaction.  Then block them from further taking up your time.  This is no doubt a sports bidder, habitual non payer who just do for the fun of it.  Sad. Sorry for your situation.

I'd be more worried that you will end up losing your computer and your money.

a seller like this sure seems iffy. Same photos / listings!

Any seller who posts such catalog copied photos just raises a HUGE RED FLAG!

Buyers do not get strikes for requesting cancellation.

There is no point in declining the cancellation. He requested it within 60 minutes of winning so you cannot hit him with an Unpaid strike later (which is the only thing he could receive). Just accept the cancellation and put him on your Blocked Buyer List if you like.

As others have said - if you are trying to sell something with a known average retail price you are probably better off just putting it up as a Fixed Price listing with Immediate Payment Required.

It's not just the same listing being sold multiple times, but whenever I see private listings on auctions of items for which there's no reason to be private, it's often because sellers think they can hide shill bidding.

Declining a cancellation in itself does not give a buyer a strike.

If you (a) decline the cancellation, and (b) the buyer does not pay, and (c) you cancel for non-payment after the appropriate time ...  then the buyer will get a strike.

But he also may (a) pay for the item, and (b) file a bogus return, and (c) return a rock .. thus costing you money and stealing your item and getting refunded and getting away with it scot-free.

You can't do that.  Only one cancellation per sale is permitted.

Buyer may have backed out because of all the red flags. Private listing, stock photos. I definitely wouldn't bid, though the buyer SHOULD have thought about that before bidding in the first place

That aside, if the buyer requested cancelation in the first hour, and you decline, they cannot get a strike for non-payment, even if they don't pay.  It's that cut and dried. If they DO pay and you ship, expect an Item Not as Described claim and you'll be paying for it to be shipped back. If you ignore the return claim, you'll lose the money AND the item.

No way for you to 'win' this one, but there is a way for you not to lose. Accept the cancelation.
