Hi all.
I had a return request for a brand new phone I sent about a little over a week ago.
I accepted the request as it seemed like it was just a faulty device and the buyer claimed they had been speaking to apple who said to return it to where they bought it from.
Few days later the buyer post the phone back, I get a notification today saying that it's been delivered (it hasn't).
I messaged the buyer to see if they have the returns tracking receipt so I can see it's definitely got my address on.
I then noticed that the account only had 1 review, so I clicked onto their profile to see what the review said and I get a message saying that they're no longer a registered user.
I'm just wanting to get people's thoughts on the situation.

Sounds like you are on the verge of being scammed out of the phone and money.

You may be a victim of online fraud. Do you still have the money for it? Has the buyer tried a credit card chargeback?

eBay has the funds on hold at the moment, I've asked them to step in to help out.
Literally in this minute got an email from them as I was writing this, they've released those funds back to me and a ruled in my favour.
I honestly felt sick thinking I've just been scammed out of a phone and a thousand pounds 🤢

You are in the UK so not all that familiar with your postal system or carriers but you may be able to get the carrier to provide you the details on the return shipping label and where it was delivered to. Cell phones and other electronic devices are prime targets for scammers so if eBay has released the funds to you consider yourself lucky.
Personally I would never list a cell phone on eBay, or anything worth 1K pounds. As a seller always remember the #1 rule. Never list anything you are not prepared to take the financial loss on. It is still possible that the buyer will open a chargeback with their CC company. If they claim INAD you will likely loose the chargeback so you are still at risk.

Don't sell expensive phones on Ebay as you will inevitably be scammed.
