Buyer request return/refund

I sold a 'NOS' cloth  item, that had an Original Maker's Paper Label affixed to it. Fairly Large Label. Seen in the Listing's pictures. After having it for 15 days, the Buyer decided he 'didn't like it' or 'he choose the wrong one.' etc. The reason has been stated differently in a couple of places. He has since requested through eBay for a return/refund. I didn't think this was going to by a problem. Until today. The item is returned to me and the Silver Maker's Paper Label has been removed and the cloth no longer feels the same. I have messaged the Buyer and politely inquired, what he is expecting. No Reply/Answer. What is your suggestion?  Please help me

Nothing we can do. Your "buyer" rented the item, and now returned it. Nothing you can do, other than put them on your block buyer list. Hopefully you can sell the article,

Not certain what you need assistance with?

You have your item back, it is not in the same condition as sold and the manufacturer's label that allowed you to sell this as NOS is missing - correct?

Your listings I clicked on do not show you as TRS, which would allow you to reduce the buyer's refund up to 50%.   For this item, did you qualify as TRS?

Sorry--can you explain what you mean? Isn't TRS a seller-level designation? You either are a TRS or you're not a TRS, right? It's not a listing designation like TRS+ (which requires the seller to be TRS for individual listings to qualify), is it?

The OP appears to be qualified as a TRS. Are you asking whether the specific listing qualified for TSR+?

Just trying to understand the comment/question.

You have some protections as a Top Rated Seller, @ffancies .

  • Report the buyer. Select the reason 'Buyer Misused Returns' and the sub-selection 'Returned an item after they opened, used, or damaged it' - in the comments box say something like, 'The previously new with tags item was sent back with tags removed. The buyer further altered the condition by putting it in the washing machine.'
  • Send a partial refund using eBay's deduction guidelines.

@wastingtime101 Wouldn't that depend on what item you sell? I think TRS protections vary

Can you be more specific, @whattheactualfox?

This was a kitchen towel; the TRS seller is fine to deduct since the item was returned damaged. They need to make sure and report the buyer, then the ability to deduct will appear.

No -I am a moron.....I had all 3 screens with something on it and was looking at the wrong Seller ID - OP clearly qualifies as they are TRS.  Sorry for the delay in responding - had to untangle a dwarf bunny from under the TV armoire in chew cords mode and this is clearly why you should not multi-task, especially if you are poor at it and evidently, today, I am!

OP - so sorry - here is the link for the TRS protections and ways you can work to reduce this up to 50%.

Seller Protections (ebay.com)

Top Rated Sellers who offer 30-day-or-longer returns can deduct up to 50% from the refund for the lost value of the item that has been returned after it has been used or damaged. We will take care of any issues with the buyer, including removing any negative and neutral feedback, defects, and open cases in service metrics.

What I was thinking is that generally you can be a top rated seller. But some items may or may not qualify for top seller protection.

I have heard posts about this before so I was a little confused if this may affect OP's case here

Your item was likely washed.  It was returned not as it was sent.   It is good you contacted the buyer.  If it were me, depending of coarse on the value of the item and the value of my time, I would explain the problem and that now, that it has been washed and is missing its packing it has decreased in value, you can only refund ($).  Then do it.  That is if you can.  It is likely they will accept because they know it is true.  If you provided a return label I am not sure if you can give a partial anymore.  If not I would call up ebay about how to proceed.  This is where you have to consider what your time is worth.
