Buyer reporting a problem after shipping

I recently sold a PS5 on here and I shipped the PS5 yesterday but today I am getting a notification that the buyer opened a report saying they haven't received their item and requested a refund. The report went in the buyer's favor and now they're getting a free PS5 because they are receiving a refund. How can I fix this if there is any way to do so?

Buyer reporting a problem after shipping

You are missing some info. It takes at least 3 days after buyer filling a case before they can ask eBay to step in and ruled in their favor.

How long from payment time to shipping time?

When was the estimated delivery time?

Did you ever responded to the case?

At this point, the best you can do is contact carrier to return parcel back to you. It cost around $15 or so, but that's nothing in comparison to PS5 cost.

They may ask for a refund, but they are not eligible to open a case until the estimated delivery date is passed. Did you mail this item late? When was the date of sale?

The auction ended on April 6 with 6-8 days delivery.

If you waited 6 days to ship no wonder they filed a case. Did you even get signature delivery?

If you just mailed it yesterday there's a chance you can get the package intercepted and returned to you. You need to hurry ASAP and use USPS Package Intercept or else they'll end up with a refund and the package.

The next time do not sit on the package. Your handling time starts when the buyer  pays eBay and eBay says awaiting shipment.

Hi @elihow-27 ,

You sold the PS5 unit on April 6th and shipped it 7 days later on the 13th.  What was the original handling time you set in your account on this item?  1 day? 2 days?, 3 days? Longer?

If you sent it Priority Mail with Signature confirmation figure it would take 2-5 days (probably 3 at most if in the US) ... that means it has not even been delivered yet.

If you don't recall the original estimated delivery I suspect what you did was ship it late and that allowed the Buyer to file an Item not received claim.  You as the Seller had 4 days to upload the tracking to show it had been shipped as part of the claim process.  If you did not do that then the Buyer can ask eBay to step in, they will close the case in the Buyer's favor and yes, you will be OUT the item and OUT the money.

Was the money put on hold seeing that you are a new Seller?

Really sorry this happened but that seems to be what happened, hard lesson to learn for sure.

Regards,

Mr. L

Your handling time was set at 3 days. This item should have been put in the mail within those three days. The buyer was within his rights to open a case. If you are going to sell on eBay, you need to learn and follow the rules.

Sold on the 6th but didn't ship until yesterday. I don't blame the buyer for opening a case. If i spent $735.00 and I didn't get within a week I would open a case also.

Why didn't you ship a week after the sale?

As others stated below unless you can do a postal intercept you are probably going to loose the item. Your loss is going to be whatever you had invested in it + the eBay fees and the shipping. You don't actually loose both the item and the money. You are also probably going to receive a ding to your metrics for having an unresolved case. Too many of these will get you suspended.

     Expensive lesson.

Actually you can appeal and show it was delivered and eBay will give you your money back with zero recourse to your account.  It amazes me how much info on these forums is fiction.  If people really knew how the eBay system worked, you’d never ever get scammed, never get negative feedback, and eBay will always have your back.  eBay is the most seller friendly platform period.  They will take care of you if you know the policies.

In all the years i’ve been on the forum, first as a lurker and then as a poster, this is the first time i have heard eBay referred to as the “most seller friendly platform.” But compared to what?

problem is, last time I read about it, is that appeal has to be done through a process that is not directly available to the seller on eBay proper.

As I understand you need to go on facebook to contact eBay to appeal.

Yep, when I read that posting after I stopped laughing I simply kept on going, still chuckling now and then.
