Buyer opened "not authentic" return case 9 days after delivery....Can I beat this one?

I sold a towel warmer a few weeks ago, and it was delivered to the buyer *9* days ago. The buyer messaged me today sending me a picture of the item, unplugged, stating that it didn't work and they wanted their money back. The thing is, I proved without a doubt in my listing that this item worked perfectly - with pictures of operating light and even a digital temperature reading of the unit working...I do not accept returns BTW.

The buyer also used the " Doesn't seem authentic" option instead of " Not as Described" - which we all know is a bullet to the head to your chances of beating a return.

I suspect the buyer is trying to cheat me out - seeing as there is little to no way the item did not arrive in working condition. I suspect they may have damaged it unintentionally, and now want their money back. Can i prove that? Not really...

With this being an " Authentic" case - can I beat this one?

Thanks,

It is frustrating dealing with some buyers on EBAY. It is unfortunate that there buyers with buyers remorse or finds the item for less money that use not as described or in your case not authentic. They do this because over the years EBAY made it a requirement for the seller to pay for the return shipping under those circumstances.  I have been selling on EBAY for 12 years. I have been lucky. Out of over 1300 transactions I only had 25 unreasonable buyers.  But I can say I had one buyer from hell that sent me nasty e-mails and even though I refunded his money for the item and shipping upon return, he still left unfavorable feedback which he wasn't suppose to do. It was a  battle royal with EBAY to get the feedback removed. The item was as described and operate correctly wen I got back.  Most times when a buyer is refunded there usually no problems. Do the refund before problems develop.  On EBAY the buyer is always valued over a seller.  It takes 3 buyer ethic violations to suspend a buyer within a 90 period. Good luck.

I just ended up giving them their money back. They sent pictures of the unit plugged in and it did in fact not power on. The switch looked a little twisted, meaning our feather fingered friends at the USPS probably smashed it pretty good.

I paid very little for it, so I'm not worried. Oh well.

Sounds like a smart decision - sometimes you just have to cut your losses.  I've done it, too.

But the buyer does not have to accept a partial refund.  And why would he?

There are a lot more bullets than that.

No you can't win, you can't win any of them unless they are remorse returns.

Re: Buyer opened "not authentic" return case 9 days after delivery....Can I beat this one?

I’m sure that’s what’s the buyer plan was! Ebay will step in and you will definitely lose not unless you cab show a proof it was working before sending it out but again this is just a try. I sold an item that was working but buyer Complaint it’s defective and I didn’t have a choice because ebay was the one who refunded the buyer. Another buyer returned a completely different and unusable item but this time I was able to proved that that wasn’t the one I sold but still ebay said they refunded the buyer but they paid for it! Unbelievable but that’s how Ebay handled it!

Anonymous
Not applicable

I've had probably 10 disputes and won only 1. I had stated the item was broken in the title, which it was, and the case was closed.

This was years ago though. So that 10% win percentage would probably be 0% today.
