Buyer opened a return with false reason

Hello,

 

I have a buyer from foreign country who bought item from me and messaged me a day after I shipped the item, that she wants to cancel the order with a full refund.

As soon as I responded, that the order was already shipped, the buyer opened a return with reason "wrong item sent" and comments saying "the seller is lying that item was shipped, I would like to cancel the order with a full refund".

I accepted the return but the return reason is false and I am unable to provide any return label from my country. I do not want to pay the lying buyer return shipping, what to do? The item was not delivered yet, estimated delivery is 3.September.

When did you send it?

Is it still in the States?

I believe you can pay to Recall a package, if so.

Why are buyers being allowed to open cases before the estimated delivery date, especially SNAD.

I am not from the USA, it is not possible to recall the package. It will take weeks until the buyer receives the item, however the "refund due date" on the return is tomorrow.

I am worried that eBay will refund the buyer because I did not provide a return label or pay for return shipping. The return reason is clearly a change of mind, with false reason selected.

When is the estimated delivery date?

 

Was it opened through ebay?

 

If so, call ebay and point out that how can one open a SNAD on an item that is not scheduled to be delivered yet and ask them to close it in your favor while you remain on the phone.

Is there tracking on the package so that you can show ebay it hasn't arrived there yet?

If not and if it is after the estimated arrival time on the listing.....I have a another suggestion although it may not be something you want to do.  You have to figure out how much it would cost the buyer to send the item back. Send them the money via Paypal as payment for goods and services.     Then you would have to show ebay that you sent them money for a label. If they didn't upload a tracking number within 5 business days (or so) after that, you should be able to get the return closed. Then you could file a claim with paypal because you did not receive the item that you paid for...the label.

 

I know of a couple of sellers who did file with PP in the similar situations and they did receive their money back although I've never tried this myself.  However, there is still a risk so if the item she purchased is less expensive than the label you might want to refund instead.

Please tell us you have tracking for this item, if you have tracking showing the item was shipped prior to buyer requesting a cancellation. Then opening a return before it ever arrived, I would contact eBay and have this closed. Do not refund!

I would report this buyer for misuse of return policy. They stated you sent out wrong item so you would have to cover the return shipping, then described that the item wasn't even shipped yet.

However, if you do not have tracking I would still contact eBay because this would be an Item not received and not a wrong item sent. eBay can verify that there is no way that the buyer could have received the item at the time the return was opened. You need to clearly add communication in the return asking buyer why they stated they received the wrong item, if the complaint was that they have not received the item yet. I would do whatever is needed to get eBay involved with this one. Let eBay know the buyer still hasn't received the item to be able to return for a refund before the return times out.

I can't see eBay finding in this buyers favor when their own case doesn't make sense. As stated already, I don't see how this person was able to even open the case so soon.

Call eBay now and report this before they do just that. This is totally a misuse of the return policy.
