This is ridiculous that I have to pay for a return label because the buyer didn't understand that they were only buying 1 variant and not every variant.
The very first line of the listing says "select the variant you want from the drop down menu"
I get the seller should pay for the return if there is no way to know who is right and it's he said/she said. But this is clear cut that the buyer did not understand how to used eBay.
It is criminal what eBay is doing forcing the sellers to pay even when it's cut and dry that the buyer made a mistake. Exceptions should be made when it is 100% clear the buyer is wrong.

Dispute this with CS. I would say that you stand a very good chance of having the label cost reversed.
Remember, You can't fix stupid

I called eBay already they said there is nothing they can do once the buyer opens a case they can't change it.
Should I give them an eBay label and then when I get it back complain to eBay again to see if they will refund the label?

Lol. I remember when I sold a bunch of clothes with photos taken on a mannequin, I had a few lame buyers that forced me to add the caption “mannequin is not included in sale.”

Once you reply "return for refund", the label stuff is out of your hands. Ebay will send them a label.
You're highly unlikely to be refunded for the label if the reason for the return was "item doesn't match description or pictures". If the reason for the return was one of the other choices which suggests buyer responsibility, buyer will pay for the label unless you promised free returns.

yes i'm aware what ebay's policy is, that's why I said it's criminal what they're doing. Especially when the buyer admits they made a mistake.

Reminds me of the guy who complained that the pair of pants he bought had only one pants - he thought here were two (only one pair was shown in the listing).

Are you TRS with at least a 30 day return policy?
If you are, just process the return. Once you get the item back issue the refund, then after you have done all that report the buyer for abuse of they return system and state the reasons as you have here.

Not fully functioning yet, but there are some reasons that a seller can actually call CS. I'm not sure which reasons allow it, but you can go through the Help page, describe why you need help and then your options for contact will tell you if you can call in, email or even do a live chat.

I have an anchor store, and I always can call eBay. It might depend what kind of store you have.

There was a period of time when you couldn't. Phone help wasn't available for anyone. Ebay brought back phone CSRs for Anchor store owners first and then there is now limited phone support for other sellers as well as the other options of obtaining some help.

I am not TRS. some of the items I sell are small items in envelopes so I can't get 90% tracking.
