I have a return on an item that buyer claimed is not as described (it was as described, not my first go round with that game). My issue is, it is a fairly decent $ amount, and she hasn’t shipped back after a week. She has until the 26th because of eBay’s extended return policy. My issue is, the money is being held (because ebay doesn’t trust me enough to issue a refund I guess) and of course I have no item to relist. So aggravating. What would you seasoned sellers do? Part of me says to just wait it out and another part of me says to send a nicely worded message and ask when they are planning to ship it back. The buyer has been nice and I have no reason to think they will try something dishonest. Thoughts? TIA.

I would wait it out as eBay has already sent a message for the return.
Not much you can do right now except wait till the dues date.

I would not send any message or do anything.
Wait to see what happens and if the 26th comes and you don't have the item back yet or it doesn't even show in transit then you should be able to close the request or have ebay close the request.
I would also keep that in mind for any future dispute or unhappy buyer - the less said the better. Whenever you must reply, keep it short, sweet and polite always. Getting into any type of back and forth with the buyer will always put you in a losing position.
I hope the buyer either doesn't send it back and you get it closed in your favor or if they do send it back I hope you get back what you sent in the condition you sent it in.
Good luck

Thanks, that is most likely what I will do. I don’t typically create “drama” when I get returns; it is a part of doing business. Folks that get upset are typically taking it personally. I do feel like this person misjudged their neck size for whatever reason, lol. I don’t feel like she is a scammer. But like others have said; it sold once (really quickly, so Inmost likely had it priced too low) so it will sell again. No worries on that end.

IMHO the potential downside to nagging a buyer far outweighs any possibly upside.

Buyers can get upset for any variety of reasons, especially if they made the mistake but are not willing to admit it. All we can do is sellers is try our beast to appease them, within reason, and kill em with kindness. 😛

We used to be able to call and have a case closed if they didn't ship the item back by the date Ebay gave, but not anymore.
We just have to wait until they decide to close the case.

There isn't much you can do until they decide to send it back or Ebay decides to close the case.
