I 'sold' my first item a couple days ago. The buyer only replied to my payment request with:
(ID and cell number removed)
New message from: ABCD-XXXX (0)
Thanks for accepting my offer,Text or call me on my so that we talk much better about the shipment # (123) 456-7890
I reply with a response containing, please communicate and pay via ebay only...
When I use the mobile app the ID shows to be in Singapore but on the ebay website it says they are in the United States.
I have not received payment and I am trying to cancel the sale, but have to wait for the case to close.
I have tried to contact the buyer again and get the same exact response as before.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes, it's happened to many sellers.
The buyer is trying to scam you..

Open an unpaid item case after 2 days, do not cancel unless by buyer request.
You do not want a defect from ebay.

You can also do a cancellation of the sale indicating something's wrong with the buyers address.

Exactly the right response.
Don't bother communicating with this scammer anymore.
You said you are waiting for a case to close... an unpaid case?
This is reported here quite often, especially with expensive items like yours, the scammers sometimes want the sellers paypal email for sending spoofed paypal paid emails. It seems many sellers fall for it, then ship without checking their paypal account for actual payment.
